"........,"

Today, I dreamt of my own past instead of the Duke's usual stuffy memories.

Fantastic.

'But why did it have to be that memory out of all the shit that happened through my life?!'

"........,"

"Si-Yeon, Si-Yeon! Where are you, dummy!?"

I shouted through the empty hallway, my voice echoing through the halls.

'Seriously, where'd that little gremlin sneak off to?'

The senior students cast me disapproving looks, probably because my booming voice could wake the dead (or at least the detention-bound kid napping in the library).

One particularly tall, pointy-shouldered bully even sauntered over, probably mistaking me for a lost freshman.

"Why you lookin' for that pussy?"

He sneered, oblivious to the reputation I'd gathered since, like, yesterday.

"She ditch you already, didn't she?"

Ugh, the audacity.

This kid probably peaked in middle school, judging by his unfortunate bowl cut and complete lack of fashion sense.

I saw red.

With the grace of a runaway shopping cart, I launched myself at him, landing a satisfying punch right in the gut.

He went flying backwards with a surprised yelp, disappearing into a nearby trash can with a resounding thunk.

The bully, now sporting a healthy dose of garbage juice, sputtered and spat from his metal prison.

"Anyone else want some?"

I declared, my voice surprisingly calm considering the situation.

It was like someone flipped a switch – gone was the twin-seeker, replaced by a force of nature with a serious case of hot temper.

The other students wisely scattered, muttering about "crazy freshmen" under their breath.

The bully, however, remained fixated on me, muttering something about a "loser".

Loser?

This guy probably got participation points for breathing in gym class.

Just then, another classmate strolled by, oblivious to the mini-war zone that had just unfolded.

"What's wrong with him? Did he pass out?"

He asked me, completely missing the point.

Ignoring them both, I resumed my search, a knot of worry tightening in my stomach.

Si-Yeon never disappeared like this.

Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around me from behind, nearly making me jump out of my skin.
