Chapter One: Clash of Agents

The room was so quiet that the only sound cutting through the silence was the steady ticking of the clock. Gill and Vasisth sat across from Raghav Shenoy, their faces tense with anger. Raghav surveyed them for what seemed like an eternity before finally breaking the silence.

"Can you tell me why neither of you are interested in working on my next important mission?" he asked, his eyebrows raised expectantly.

"I refuse to work with your self-proclaimed 'top agent' who's nothing but irresponsible," Vasisth retorted, directing her frustration towards Shenoy with a stern gaze.

"And why is that?" he inquired, shifting his attention to Gill, who sat with flaring nostrils, absentmindedly spinning a ball on the table.

Vasisth spoke, her words laced with simmering anger, " I need reliability and accountability, not someone who puts the entire mission at risk due to their impulsiveness."

Raghav Shenoy leaned back in his chair, contemplating their words. After a thoughtful pause, he sighed and said, "I understand your concerns, but he's the best we have. I need both of you to find a way to work together. This mission is critical, and I believe in your abilities to handle it as a team."

"Sir, we could have been traced because of him!" she exclaimed with frustration.

"I just wanted to call home once and let my wife know that I love her and my daughter. I wasn't certain if we could have made it out of that mission," he retorted, defending his actions.

"We were on a mission; it wasn't the time for personal matters! Ghar ghar khelne ka time nahi tha," she asserted, her voice carrying the same authoritative tone that made even criminals shiver but not Gill.

"Unlike you, I have a family to look back at," he accused her, employing a cheap shot to make his point.

For the first time in her ten-year career, her voice caught in her throat. She bit her lips, composing herself swiftly because Geentajali Vasisth was not one to show her emotions.

"Shenoy, Sir, I am sorry. I will make sure to adjust with him," she said, choosing to leave the place rather than confront the man in front of her at that moment.

As Geetanjali Vasisth left the room, Raghav Shenoy turned his attention back to Gill, disappointment etched across his face.

"Gill, do you realize the gravity of the situation? Your impulsiveness jeopardized the entire mission, and it could have ended catastrophically," Shenoy admonished, his voice stern.

Gill leaned forward, his gaze defiant. "Look, Shenoy, I did what I had to do. We were in a tight spot, and I needed to make that call. It worked out fine in the end, didn't it?"

Shenoy shook his head, frustration evident in his expression. "Gill, success doesn't justify recklessness. Your actions put the entire team at risk. This isn't just about you; it's about the collective safety of everyone involved."
