Chapter Two: Claws and Wings
Raghav Shenoy, with a stern expression, stepped forward, silencing the chaotic room. "Enough!" he thundered, his voice cutting through the tension.
"Both of you, come to my office right now," Raghav said as he walked in, not bothering to glance at either of them.
Both of them silently trailed behind Raghav, casually wiping blood from their faces. They stood at a distance, gazing into the distance. Raghav sat down behind the computer, typing furiously. He then printed a set of papers, signed them, and tossed them onto the table in front of them.
"Both of you, take this suspension and surrender your gear," Raghav said, folding his hands.
Vasisth's jaw clenched as she picked up the suspension papers, her eyes flashing with anger. "This is outrageous," she seethed, her voice laced with venom. "I can't believe you're punishing both of us for his reckless behaviour."
"That's not just his reckless behaviour; it's your anger too," Raghav said, pointing fingers at Vasisth.
Gill scoffed, shaking his head in disbelief. "Suspension? You can't be serious, Shenoy. We have a critical mission ahead."
Raghav's expression remained firm. "I am serious, Gill. Your actions today have demonstrated a blatant disregard for protocol and teamwork. Suspension is necessary to ensure that you both understand the gravity of your behaviour."
Vasisth's fists clenched tighter around the suspension papers as she glared at Gill. "You brought this upon us with your reckless behaviour and arrogance," she spat, her voice seething with anger.
Gill shot back, his tone defiant. "Oh, spare me the lecture, Vasisth. You're not exactly innocent in all of this either."
Raghav intervened before the situation could escalate further. "Enough! This suspension stands, and I expect both of you to use this time to reflect on your actions and consider the consequences of your behaviour. Is that understood?"
"So, who's going to handle the mission with the country's reputation on the line? Don't tell me Raman, the dimwit, is going to take charge?" Gill scoffed, rolling his eyes.
"At least he is better and calm. Don't forget, he's good at diffusing things," Raghav said, leaning back in his chair.
Vasisth tightened her grip on the suspension papers almost tearing it, her jaw clenched as she retorted, "Maybe Raman is good at diffusing things, but he's not exactly known for making sound decisions. We can't just hand over such a critical mission to someone who lacks the judgment and experience required."
Gill sighed, scrunching his nose in reluctant agreement. "As much as I hate to admit it, she's right. We need someone who can handle the pressure and make tough calls when necessary. Raman just doesn't fit the bill."
"Well, you two left me with no option. Your disagreement and actions led me to make this decision," Raghav said, perching his chin on his fist.
Gill shut his eyes, taking a deep breath. He knew he had to mend things with Vasisth for the sake of their country. Despite knowing it was his fault, his ego was reluctant to admit it. However, his inner sense of duty as an agent pushed him to compromise with Vasisth for the greater good of the country.
With a resigned sigh, Gill opened his eyes and turned towards Vasisth, meeting her gaze. "Vasisth, I... I know I messed up. My actions put us all in jeopardy, and I'm sorry. We need to set aside our differences and work together for the mission and the country."
Vasisth simply nodded in response, her expression still guarded. Gill scowled slightly, feeling a pang of frustration as she didn't say anything. Raghav, however, seemed pleased with the silent agreement.
"Good," Raghav said with a hint of satisfaction. "Now that we've cleared the air, let's get back to the mission. Pick up three more team members, and make sure you choose wisely. We don't have much time.
Gill furrowed his brow, curiosity overcoming his frustration. "Alright, Shenoy, what's the mission?"
"You have to go to Azmiria and bring back the notorious criminal, Amar Khatri, along with the innocent people he has under his clutches," Raghav Shenoy explained. "The Prime Minister of our country wants them back urgently. Khatri has been a thorn in our side for years, orchestrating elaborate schemes and evading capture at every turn. Our sources indicate that he's planning something big in Azmiria-a move that could tip the balance of power in the region. We need to move swiftly to neutralize the threat and bring him to justice before it's too late."
Raghav observed the determined expressions on both of their faces, hands already clenched, their minds seemingly at work plotting the upcoming plan. "So, my tiger and eagle, are you ready?"
