Chapter Twenty-Nine: Ours Soon?

Geetanjali heard her doorbell ring as she was donning her apron to start preparing dinner for the evening. She opened the door to find two cheeky smiles greeting her. Wriggling out of Shubman's arms, little Anamika extended her hand, indicating she wanted to be picked up by Aunt Gia.

Chuckling, Geetanjali lifted Anamika, kissing her on the cheek, which made the little one giggle with delight.

"Father and daughter at 6 I haven't started dinner yet also where are your parents Shubman?" Geentanjali inquired as she welcomed both.

Shubman, hugging Gia sideways, replied, "Their friends invited them over for dinner. They apologized for not being able to join us."

"No worries, we three will enjoy together. We can plan another time with your parents," Geetanjali said, gently swaying with little Anamika in her arms.

"Can we make pasta and pizzas, Aunt Gia?" Anamika asked eagerly.

"Sunshine, the menu is already planned, so no pasta and pizza," Shubman said gently, seeing Anamika's hopeful expression.

Anamika's expression soured, and she pouted, her disappointment evident as she looked downcast. Geetanjali exchanged a glance with Shubman before giving him a stern look, then softened her gaze as she gently lifted Anamika's chin and brushed her cheek. "I haven't started anything yet, so we can make pasta and pizza," she suggested with a smile, bouncing Anamika onto her hip, which brought a smile to the little girl's face.

Shubman, noticing Geetanjali's readiness to accommodate Anamika's wishes, gently interjected, "No need to stress yourself, Gia. We can stick to the original plan."

Geetanjali waved her hand dismissively at Shubman, assuring him, "It's not a big deal at all."

Settling Anamika on the counter, Geetanjali bopped her nose playfully and declared, "We'll make whatever Anamika wishes because she is the princess of the evening." Anamika's face lit up with joy at being dubbed the princess, and her disappointment was quickly replaced by excitement.

With a bright smile, Geetanjali began to gather the ingredients needed for pasta and pizza, while Anamika happily watched from the counter, her mood lifted once again.

Shubman leaned against the kitchen counter, observing the scene with a fond expression. "Looks like we're having an Italian feast tonight," he remarked, his tone lighthearted.

Anamika, her eyes sparkling with excitement, piped up, "I want to help too!" She looked up at Geetanjali with admiration, pointing to the apron she was wearing. "I want an apron like Aunt Gia's," she declared, her enthusiasm contagious.

Geetanjali smiled warmly at Anamika's eagerness but gently said, "No need for an apron, Princess. Just enjoy watching, and I'll take care of the cooking."

"But Aunt Gia," she said with a determined tone, "today's princesses work and are independent too!"

Geetanjali was touched by Anamika's determination and spirit. She placed a hand over her heart, feeling a swell of pride for her statement. With a tender smile, she leaned forward and planted a gentle kiss on Anamika's cheek.

"Absolutely, my little princess," Geetanjali said softly, her voice full of admiration. "You're absolutely right. Today's princesses are strong, independent, and capable of anything they set their minds to."

Shubman's words carried a hint of admiration and respect as he looked first at Anamika and then at Geetanjali. "Yes, darling," he said, his voice filled with pride. "And some queens are saving countries out there."
