Chapter Thirty: Broken Hearts Mend Each Other
As Geetanjali and Shubman sat down to eat, Anamika glanced up to check if her Daddy was alright. Seeing her daddy smiling, she returned the smile and pressed a kiss to his cheek. With mouths stuffed with their cooking, all three of them smiled in delight at the taste, proud of their culinary creation.
Shubman looked up to see his girls eating without talking, their mouths filled with the Italian feast. He noticed his little sunshine, Anamika, eating neatly, but the same couldn't be said for his warrior, Geetanjali, whose lips were adorned with pizza crumbs. With a gentle touch, he raised his hand and cleaned the corner of her lips with his thumb, causing Geetanjali to blush and Anamika to look on in awe at both of them. Geetanjali widened her eyes, scolding Shubman softly as she was mindful of Anamika's presence.
Anamika quickly looked down, giggling to herself, as she observed her daddy showing affection to someone he truly deserved. She felt a warmth spread through her heart at the sight of her Daddy and Aunt Gia sharing such a tender moment. It was evident that her father cared deeply for Geetanjali, and she couldn't help but feel happy for both of them.
As the meal continued, a comfortable silence enveloped the table, broken only by the clinking of cutlery and the occasional murmur of appreciation for the delicious food.
As the meal ended, the father and daughter joined Geetanjali in clearing the table and loading the dishes into the dishwasher. Despite their reluctance to part with her, Geetanjali stood up, smiling warmly at the two of them. She then reached out to pick up Anamika, who wore a slight pout on her face.
"What if Daddy says yes to a night-in?" Geetanjali asked, her eyes filled with hope as she glanced between Shubman and Anamika.
As Shubman observed Anamika's happiness and contentment with Geetanjali, he couldn't bear the thought of making her sad. He realized that he had missed out on fulfilling her requests during the months he had been absent, and now was his chance to make it up to her. With mischievous intent twinkling in his eyes, he decided to play a harmless prank to tease his girls a little.
"I was actually thinking of having some daddy-daughter time at home," Shubman said, his tone carrying a hint of sadness. Geetanjali's expression fell slightly, but she nodded understandingly.
However, before Shubman could continue, Anamika's little hand wrapped around Geetanjali's neck, her face buried in Geetanjali's neck as she protested, "No, Daddy, I want Aunt Gia too."
Shubman smiled warmly and gently ruffled Anamika's hair. "Fine, fine, don't be sad. Daddy was just joking. We can definitely have a night in."
Anamika's face lit up with joy, and she immediately pulled both Shubman and Geentanjali into a tight hug, wrapping her arms around them. At that moment, they looked like the perfect family, filled with love and warmth.
Shubman embraced his daughter and Geetanjali, enveloping them in his strong arms. He pressed a tender kiss to Anamika's forehead, then discreetly leaned over to place a gentle kiss on Geentanjali's head.
The three of them settled on Geetanjali's bed, with Anamika nestled snugly between Geetanjali and Shubman. They decided to watch "Frozen," as it was Anamika's special request. As the movie began, Anamika's head suddenly filled with an idea. With excitement bubbling inside her, she reached out and grabbed both of their hands, holding them close to her own and leaning back against the soft pillows.
With the familiar tunes of "Frozen" filling the room, she squeezed their' hands tightly, revelling in the warmth and comfort of their presence. Shubman leaned back against the pillows, a playful glint in his eyes as he winked at Geetanjali. The gesture made her blush, her cheeks tinged with a rosy hue as she stole a glance at him.
