I can only love you in secret

Lately, Pidge has been questioning her true feelings towards the purple eyed boy. Her teammate, their residential emo, the boy who was always careful who he let close to him.

Yep. Keith fucking Kogane.

How could she even let this happen in the first place? She didn't leave her old self and her mom behind to go to space and get a crush like some teenage girl. She has priorities. Her dad and Matt.

She can't let herself get distracted. Right?

Could she like him? Could he like her like that? There's absolutely no way. Never. Lost in her head, she couldn't hear Lance calling her name from the other side of the table where they were currently eating dinner.

"Pidge! PIDGE! PIDGEON!" "What?" she responds tiredly, having already had enough of his antics. "You're with me on this one aren't ya! The ladies on this planet like me way more than Keith, right?"

Ah yes, now she remembers why it's so stupid to even wonder if he could ever like her. Since the two years they've been stuck up there, not only has he grown as a person but his body has grown too.

It's not like she's needed to stare at him for a creepy amount of time to realize. She has
eyes. He's attractive, point. Still doesn't mean she likes him.

Now, wherever they go, the red paladin catches the eye of some women. All of them are beautiful, like she never will be.

She doesn't even bother answering Lance and just announces she isn't hungry anymore and will be in her lab , if anyone needs her.

Yep. Handsome Keith could never love nerdy Katie.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. It's not like she can even understand her emotions to being with, or boys. Sure she can explain scientific theories, robots, mathematical formulas for vargas to no end, but boys? Nope. Don't even think about it.

Too preoccupied, Pidge misses the way Keith was staring at her the whole time. Heck, the whole dinner.

****************************

Keith is already past this phase. He can confidently admit that he has feelings for the resident tech genius. To himself at least. There's no way he could tell the others, not even Shiro. So telling her how he feels is mission impossible.

He doesn't have the guts to tell her.

Everytime this girl does something super smart and amazing and so her, he feels further away from her.

She would probably prefer being with someone as smart as her. Someone who can do more than listen to her ramble about her latest project while smiling at her sweetly hoping this moment never ends.

Still, nowadays, the only way for Keith to fall asleep is by picturing her. The cute freckles on her face he wishes to cover in sweet kisses. Her childish laugh when she successfully pulls a prank on Lance or Hunk. Those mesmerizing honey eyes of hers. That voice that forbids him from paying attention to anything else whenever she talks.

Everything about her is like a black hole, sucking him in.

At first, he was scared of his feelings, but in the last year, he learned that he shouldn't be scared of them.

In the beginning, he came up with the stupid conclusion that he only felt a stronger bond with her since they're the arms of Voltron. The sword and the shield.
