Chapter Twenty: I've Always Wanted To Figure Skate
Episode Six: I'm Triggered

"It wasn't just violent. It was a premeditated attack by a child! With severe aggression!" Cynthia argued. "and we're taking it very seriously." The man spoke.  "I don't know where he learned this behavior. It is inexcusable. Clearly, he's struggling emotionally." Austin heard Georgia say. "Zach required a stitch! Who knows when he'll next hold a tennis racket?" Cynthia complained making Dallas, who was sitting outside with Austin, scoff.

"This is my fault. I must have missed Austin's cries for help. I'm...so sorry this happened." Georgia spoke.

"Do you think I need help?" Dallas heard Austin ask. "..Austin, if i'm being completely honest, yes and no. It's not your fault that that Zach kid is such a d--prick. But what you did is unacceptable too." Dallas explained. Austin sulked sadly. "Hey look on the bright side. You have a day with Caleb." Dallas said with a sad smile. Austin nodded.

"Let's go." Georgia said. Dallas picked up Austin's bag and walked towards the car.

Ginny got out of the passenger seat, moving the seat back so Austin and Dallas can climb in. "Well?" Ginny called. "How'd it go?" Ginny asked. "I'm not gonna lie- It was--" Georgia started before Ginny cut her off. "You're not gonna lie? That's weird. I'd like to hear from Austin. How'd it go?" Ginny nagged. "I'm suspended, and I have to do therapy. Mom said she was worried." Austin spoke.

"Baby, I'm not worried. There is nothing wrong with you, and you don't need to go to therapy. That Zach kid had it coming." Georgia spoke. "I'm sorry. Are you suggesting the nine-year-old deserved to be stabbed through the hand with a pencil?" Ginny spoke. "Not that what he did was right but are you suggesting that Austin should've sat back and let the bullying happen? Something needed to be done, just not in that way." Dallas said making Ginny roll her eyes and put her airpods in.

"I'm sorry, but you've got a lot of opinions today. I don't remember anyone popping out of your birth canal! Can it." Georgia told Ginny. "He needs to see someone, Mom! Clearly, he's not handling things well with your whole secret family surprise." Ginny spoke. "I like Caleb!" Austin exclaimed. "I didn't tell you about them for good reason. Maddie is trouble!

You can't trust anything she says." Georgia explained. "Oh, that's rich. Please, lecture me more about who I can trust. I'm rapt." Ginny remarked. "Don't worry. You're not. I'm not paying for some twenty-nothing, latte-drinkin', tweed-wearing hypocrite who thinks they have any idea about my life." Georgia spoke "Austin's life! You mean Austin's life!" Ginny exclaimed "Isn't that ironic." Dallas mumbled. "What did you say?" Ginny asked rudely. "isn't you saying 'Austin's life' ironic? It's as if you didn't just push your own issues and made it his" Dallas spoke.

"What?" Ginny asked. "Austin likes Caleb, if you hadn't noticed. You're the only one who has a outspoken problem on it!" Dallas exclaimed. "Maybe because mom's a liar!" Ginny yelled back. Georgia sighed. "Baby, listen to me. You're perfect." She spoke to Austin, looking at him. "But I heard you. You said you were worried." Austin spoke. "Nothing I said was true! I was try--" Georgia was cut off by Ginny. "Lying!" She accused. "Protecting you." Georgia corrected.

Ginny's POV

Georgia lives in fight or flight. Mostly flight.

I've lived in 12 different homes because if something goes south, Georgia doesn't let the dust settle. Never look backwards, only forward.

Georgia's POV

Ginny, what's done is done. It don't do any good digging through mud. All you get is dirty.Best wash yourself clean and move on.

Ginny's POV

But what happens when your past shows up after 12 years and is suddenly in your kitchen cooking dinner?

"Momma, I'm heading out." Georgia heard Dallas called. "To where?" Georgia asked. "Baker's." Dallas said as I came down the stairs. "She probably got plans with that cute boyfriend." Maddie said, raising her eyebrows. "How do you know about Hunter?" Georgia asked. "Social media." Maddie answered. "That's how I found you. I followed Dallas, who, might I add, has a super cute insta. Connected the dots. You know that song he wrote her has got over, like, 17,000 views?" Maddie told Georgia. I stayed by the stairwell, listening.

"Why are you here, Maddie?" Georgia asked. "I missed you. Caleb should know his cousins. After Mom goes, you're all we got." Maddie confessed. "Boys, dinner!" Maddie yelled and that was my cue to also leave. "Excuse me, where are you going?" Georgia asked me. "Out." I told her. "Out doing what?" Georgia asked me. "Meth. Good night." I said, leaving.

"You can't stay mad at me forever!" I heard her say as I closed the door.

I opened the door to Hunters car. "You wanted to talk? Start talking." Hunter spoke. "I'm sorry about the picture. It's just, Dallas isn't who you think she is." I started. I wanted her life to go south. It wasn't fair how she got to be all high and mighty. "Excuse me?" Hunter questioned. "She's literally the worst, she just hides it under her perfect face and that awfully ethereal voice of hers." I told him. "Sounds like your jealous." Hunter told me.

"I AM NOT! Why would I be jealous of a girl who lost her virginity at 12!?" I exclaimed, shutting my mouth after. "What?" Hunter asked. "Y-yeah." I told him. Hunter bit his lip. "She's a huge slut. And a cheater." I continued. "She's done numerous drugs and eventually overdosed which is why she's banned" I said.

"I don't even wanna talk about this any more." Hunter told me. I fiddled with my fingers, before pulling him in for a kiss. He pushed me away. "Ginny, what the hell!?" He exclaimed. "You deserve better, Hunter. I am that better." I told him. He looked at me before I kissed him again, this time, he's kissed back.

"let's take this to the back." I spoke, full of confidence.

Dallas's POV

After greeting Ellen I went up to Marcus's room. He was on his bed, smoking. "Hey." He spoke. "H-hi." I said. He opened his arms and I crashed into them. "Hey hey...It's okay." He said, soothing me. "I feel like I'm loosing control, again." I whimpered. "Again?" He asked. I looked up at him and he looked at me. We stayed like that─him holding me──in his arms I felt safe.

"I've always wanted to figure skate." I stated out of the blue. "Oh yeah?" Marcus asked me. I nodded. "I used to." I told him. "I used to, and I used to figure skate really good." I said with a sad chuckle. "Why'd you stop?" He asked me. "Family problems." I said with a dejected smile.

"We move a lot, y'know. Like I wouldn't be surprised if momma decided to up and go." I sniffled. Marcus looked at me as I vented, pouring all my feelings out to him. "What sucks the most..is when people call me a slut just because I lost my virginity at 12." I stated. "You did?" He asked. "I did." I nodded, tears filling my eyes. "I've never told people about it because it wasn't by choice." I said, finally looking at him.

I saw the tears building in his eyes. "Dallas." Marcus said, enwrapping me in a tight hug as I cried again. "And absolutely no one understands that. No one understands me." I cried. He rubbed my back, kissing my temple. "It's okay Dallas. I got you." He whispered.
