Chapter Forty Five: You Are Just So Adorable
S2Episode 4: Happy My Birthday To You

Georgia sat by the balcony, cigarette in hand. Thats when she spotted Marcus Baker. He climbed out his window, balancing between windows before climbing down through the hedge. She moved back as he crossed to the back of the house. Georgia scoffed, moving closer to the side of the balcony.

Through the open window she could see Dallas peaking her head out, waving at Marcus who was climbing to her window. She moved back to allow him to get him, shutting her window. "Birthday boy, Birthday boy!" Dallas chimed, slapping a hat on Marcus who couldn't help but chuckle. "Oh come on. It's almost your birthday. I shouldn't be more excited then you." Dallas says.

"Ehh." Marcus spoke, shrugging. "Okay, mr broody." Dallas said, rolling her eyes and laying on her bed. "If I'm mr broody then you're mrs broody." Marcus says, laying on her bed and finger walking on her stomach. "Is this a marriage proposal?" Dallas asks. "No, hoe." Marcus spoke making Dallas shove him.

Georgia knocked on the door. "Fuck." Dallas grumbled as Marcus got up, heading for the closet. Georgia soon came in. "You smell of weed momma" She said, not looking up from her phone. "You're up." Georgia spoke. "It's nine pm." Dallas told her.

"I forgot to pick up our birth control from CVS. Be a doll and run out and grab it." Georgia said. "Can't I do that tomorrow?" Dallas asked. "Oh, yeah, that's fun. Let's play fast and loose with our birth control. Remind me of our age difference again? It's one, two... Sixteen years? Come on, move your butt." Georgia directed. Dallas whined.

"What about Ginny?" Dallas asked. "Ginny is asleep. Now up you go." Georgia said. "Fine." Dallas groaned, getting up and walking down the stairs. Georgia waited for the door to shut before directing her attention towards Marcus. "Marcus. Are you in the closet?" Georgia questioned.

There was a pause before he answered. "Yeah." He spoke. "Are you decent?" Georgia continued. "Yes." He replied. "Surprising. Come out here, please."

"Hi there." Georgia spoke once he left the closet, cigarette in hand. "I should, I gotta--" He mumbled before getting interrupted. "How long have you've been dating my daughter?" Georgia asked. "We aren't...I was planning on it." Marcus spoke. "Hm... That changes things doesn't it." Georgia spoke. "Have a seat." She directed.

"You're a damaged kid, aren't you? It's okay. I know. I'm damaged too." Georgia spoke, passing him the cigarette. He took it hesitantly.  "Dallas is special. She's gonna go off and do big, wonderful things. And I realized something recently. She doesn't know it yet, but one day, when she figures out that our damage is holding her back, she's gonna leave us. And I'm not being cruel. Well, maybe I'm being cruel, but... I'm being honest. You're her high school love, and that is fine." Georgia started.

That statement made Marcus think of Hunter. How Dallas got over him because it was just a 'highschool thing'. Would that be the same with them? He hoped not. "That's sweet, that's swell, pin her. Take her to sock hop, or whatever. But when the time comes, if you really love her, don't hold her back." Georgia continued over his thoughts.

"Hey. Promise me." Georgia spoke. "I promise."

Dallas, who was standing by the door let out a soft sigh.

"And if you get her pregnant, I'll kill you." Georgia said making Marcus's eyes widen. Dallas bit her tongue as she reentered the room. "Why are you smoking with my boyfriend." Dallas said, her arms crossed. "You really are my daughter." Georgia said with a chuckle. "Mom I'm not smiling." Dallas spoke.

Georgia's smile dropped. "neither am I. Sneaking a boy through your window, again? Am I trapped in a '90s show? What is this? Clarissa Explains It All? Dawson's Creek? What's next episode? Someone have a mental breakdown or hook up with a teacher? I'm definitely tuning in." Georgia spoke making Dallas roll her eyes.

"I'm gonna go." Marcus said, standing up. He kissed Dallas's temple on his way out making a small smile form on her face, until, of course, she dropped it when facing her mother. She shut the door. "I do not like a word you just said to him. What if he gets the wrong idea and thinks he's holding me back?" Dallas said, laying on her bed, stomach first.

"Your loves gonna get you pregnant." Georgia spoke. Dallas rolled her eyes and although Georgia couldn't see it, she could feel it. "We're not having sex." Dallas grumbled. "It doesn't look it." Georgia said.

Georgia stood up, rubbing her daughters thigh. "Don't do that." Dallas complained. "My bad, I'm sorry." Georgia said, raising her arm in defense. "That wasn't okay. I don't want you smoking with Marcus or basically telling him to leave me. I can handle my self and I won't leave him because of his quote on quote damage. I mean, do you see me?" Dallas ranted.

"I just care about you. I know you're going to go places." Georgia said. "I know. But if I want something to happen let it be." Dallas mumbled. Georgia sighed. "What's this you got going on?" She asked, picking the basket up.

"I'm doing it for his birthday." Dallas told her. "You are just so adorable." Georgia said. Most things were black, others a deep blue or gray. She got him some snacks, a black hoodie saying 'Birthday', some gamepasses for his favorite games, a woody smelling cologne, and some other things.

"You really care about him." Georgia said. "I do." Dallas spoke. "So it's Marcus, huh? Mr. Weed smoking, breaking and entering, "first time I touch my bike, I crash into a tree" Marcus? That's the guy?" Georgia spoke. "It wasn't his first time." Dallas said, rolling her eyes with a smile. "Oh?" Georgia asked. "He's also much more than that." Dallas continued, finishing up a little handwritten letter.  "Mm-hmm. Clearly." Georgia says. "What's that supposed to mean?" Dallas asked. "Nothin'" Georgia said.

"He take you on dates, or he just sneaks in at night?" Georgia spoke. "We're not dating, momma. But we are going somewhere." Dallas spoke. "Oh really? What is it?" Georgia asks. Dallas shrugged.

"Hope he's not riding his bike." Georgia spoke. "He got lessons." Dallas said. "Alright alright. Just..No more secrets, plum." Georgia spoke. "uhuh." Dallas nodded. "This is good." Georgia nodded. "Us against the world." She added. "Us against the world." Dallas agreed.
