chapter; twenty-one
act two; twilight - new moon
ELEANOR AND ALICE WERE CURRENTLY ON THEIR WAY TO FORKS. ALICE HAD EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO ELEANOR. Who only acknowledged Rosalie when leaving, as she and Alice were the only ones to think her going to Forks and seeing Luca was a good idea.
She did feel hurt in a way that her own family didn't want her to see the one person she'd ever love. Their chemistry was undeniable, and their family even said themselves that the couple looked as if they were mates, and those who met their mates whilst human, had the same feelings for their one person Luca and Eleanor had for each other.
So forgive Eleanor for feeling as if her family betrayed her. They've agreed and stated numerous times about her and Luca, and how being away from your mate was painful, human or not. (Though it was a lot more agonising for vampires) Yet, they were perfectly okay with separating the two and forbidding any forms of contact between the two.
"If you still have his number, could you message him to meet us at Bella's house?" Alice suggested, glancing over at the human teenager. "It may save time, and you could spend longer with him." She added and turned her focus back onto the road.
Tears pricked her eyes. "His numbers and emails are written in my diary. Da-... Carlise made me delete it from my phone so I wouldn't message him." Eleanor looked down at her lap, her eyes glossy from the tears pooling there.
"Maybe Bella has it, and she'll call him, then he'll come over. That's if Bella's even alive." Alice whispered the ending, but not quiet enough as Eleanor heard her.
Many hours passed, and night had fallen. And they were finally outside Bella's house. Alice had parked the car slightly down the road, and pulled in towards the dirt bank. They sat in her living room, in the pitch black.
After a few minutes, her classic rusty, almost red pickup truck pulled up outside of the house. They stood silent besides the door, well Alice did. Eleanor made herself comfortable on the sofa.
Bella walked in, looking around warily after seeing Carlsile's car. She flicked on the light, and jumped in shock at the sight of Alice standing there.
When she saw Carlisle's car, Bella didn't know what to think. Had they come back? Was it a visit? Or, did someone on the street buy the same car or a similar one she'd confused for Carlisle's as it was dark? Bella decided that the latter two had been much more plausible, as why on earth would the Cullens pop back into town after all this time and go straight to Bella?
So, seeing the Alice Cullen standing inside Bella's house had not only shocked the petit girl, but filled her with overwhelming joy, they were finally back. But part of Bella thought this was a simple figmant of her imagination like it had been with Edward appearing, although she still cant deciper that.
What made it seem more like a dream, or her mind playing tricks on her, was the sight of Eleanor Cullen on her sofa. Eleanor had been over once or twice before, but as little as she possibly could. The humans had neutral ground with another, but weren't necessarily friendly to each other.
So, Bella, unbeknownst to her, just stared at the mortal cullen. Was this real? Is that actually Eleanor? Or is this all fake? Questions ran through her head at a million miles a minute, "Take a photo, it'll last longer." Eleanor quipped. She wasn't the biggest fan of being stared at, especially when the person staring is the reason their family moved many miles away.
'I don't this is a dream, is it?' Bella thought to herself and focused back on Alice. She practically jumped into the pixies arms, "Alice?" Bella finally snapped out of her confusion.
"Bella!" Alice reciprocated a smile, and gently took Bella's arms off of her. Eleanor did some simple analysis, and Bella was in fact not doing good, to state the obvious.
Bella looked half dead, her face was slimmer, and the skin around her eyes was red then heavy bags under the eyes. Eleanor also took notice of her ratty unkept hair. There was no nicer way to say it, it looked like she went into either the ocean, or a chlorine-filled pool and hadn't brushed her hair.
"Oh my god! What are you- I'm sorry, I just can't believe you're here. Is...?" Bella stuttered, she referenced to the family being back, more specifically, Edward.
"Would you like to explain to me how you're alive?" Alice tilted her head ever so slightly. Eleanor, and Rosalie, couldn't understand why Alice was going back to see if Bella was alive or not, when the whole point of moving away, was to disconnect her from their vampiric lives.
People die every day, so why was it so important that Bella had to be checked on, if she was dead. She was dead. No reversing that, unless you died with vampire venom in your veins, but that's a whole other thing.
Especially if she's the reason they had to abruptly pack their shit and leave, Eleanor thought they should've left it, it's nothing to do with her family any more. However, she decided to agree it was a worthy cause as she wanted to go see Luca. That's the only reason Eleanor was even back in that town.
Bella muttered in confusion from Alice's words, "I saw a vision of you. You jumped off a cliff. Why in the hell would you try and kill yourself? What about Charlie? What about-" Alice was cut off from Bella.
"I didn't try to kill myself." Bella interrupted, 'If you did, you clearly didn't try hard enough.' Eleanor fought back the words from being spoken out loud and kept them within her thoughts. Thank god Edward wasn't here.
"I went cliff jumping. Recreationally. It was fun." Bella continued, the lie was totally obvious to the two Cullens, considering in Alice's vision she had all her every day clothes on, which if you didn't know, is something you don't tend to do when swimming in any form.
And she jumped into the water when the waves were malicious and thrashed against the rock wall below the cliff. Which again, is not something you tend to do when cliff diving, unless you're looking for a way out of life, a painful way; Getting thrown against the rocks and drowning doesn't tend to be painless.
They moved onto the sofa, whilst Eleanor remained on the armchair besides them, her legs kicked up as she played some weird game with her hair tie and fingers.
"I have never met anyone more prone to life-threatening idiocy." Alice mimicked Bella's position, her legs curled beneath her.
"Did you tell him?" Bella asked nervously, and Eleanor rolled her eyes at the question, as so far, her major questions have been about Edward.
"No. He only calls in once every few months. He said he wants to be alone." Alice answered, there was a hint of sadness in her voice that her brother left them, but she was happy he checked in every now and then.
"You could be depressive buddies together. Although, if Edward hadn't forced everyone to uproot our lives, we wouldn't be here right now." Eleanor spoke up, the former part of her sentence was in a faux-chirpy voice.
"Eleanor, why are you here?" Bella tried her best possible way not to sound offensive, but she did, very much so.
"Don't get your hopes up, I'm not here for you, sort of. I need you to call Luca, if you have his number. I need to see him." Eleanor finally had a true smile on her face since they've gotten here.
"Oh, he... has a girlfriend." What Bella said dampened the mood of everything, and crushed Eleanor's soul. She was happy that he moved on, but angry and jealous at the same time. She loved him too much to move on from him.
