Ch 19- Under the Church

You sit next to Levi and Hange as we look at the floor in front of us. We were now in the confines of the Chapel that Rod Reiss had rebuilt after the tragedy that occurred five years ago. We had just found the trapdoor, which we knew was where Eren and Historia were kept. "Hopefully, the layout in there is like you predicted," you hear Hange mutter as Levi looks darkly at the trapdoor. "These presents better pay off, considering we went out of the way to prepare them." You turn slightly, seeing Armin finish up the last "present", or rather barrels of gunpowder lined with bags of oil. Armin looks to us when he finally finishes the final barrel, "All right, we're good to go," he says as Levi's sharp eyes then turn to the squad. "Are we? Is everyone ready to get their hands dirty, too?" A long silence surrounds us as you look around us at everyone's grim yet determined faces. "I'll take that as a yes," you mutter before opening the trapdoor and stepping through.

Levi catches up to you as we walk along before reaching a wooden door; the entrance to enemy territory. You turn to see the squad pass along the barrels of gunpowder and get ready for our attack. Sasha readied her bow and arrow, Jean and Connie checked over each other's gear one last time, and Mikasa had that deadly aura about her. Levi takes the chance to clutch your hand and drag you to the side, causing you to look up at him in question. He hesitates, eyes wandering before they return to your own. You smile gently, seeing his intentions and the stress within his eyes as you squeeze his hand in comfort. "I'll be fine, don't worry, just as long as you return to me in one shape, too," you whisper, causing his eyes to soften with the flicker of worry you see in them. He lifts one of your hands in his, kissing it gently and causing heat to rise within you. "Don't die," he mutters lowly before you nod slowly at his words. "Oi, lovebirds, you ready or what?" You turn swiftly, quickly detaching yourself from Levi, as you hear Hange's words. The squad is now also turning to see what's going on.

"Tch," Levi looks to Hange, sharp stare and anger brimming amongst his features. "Shut up, shitty glasses," he says sharply while you try to fight back the heat rising in your cheeks, shaking your head. Now's not the time to get all flustered. You turn to the squad, who now look at us curiously, as Levi tries to wipe the grin off Hange's face. "Ready up!" you say to them, causing Levi to stop trying to kill Hange. "We're going." Everyone's eyes turned stern, faces now serious before Levi came to your side, and we stepped forward towards the wooden doors. You nod at him before we kick them open. However, before we step forward into enemy territory, Armin and Jean push three barrels of gunpowder and oil down the descending stairs before us. Using the distraction, we then run through the doors, Sasha's flaming bow ready as she aims at the barrels, causing them to explode and emit dark smoke. Connie, Mobit, and Hange join in, shooting green smoke signals through the air and impairing the enemy's vision.

You rush forward through the smoke on your ODM gear, swords at the ready as you get ready to kill. "Thirty-five enemies!" You hear the shout of Levi from elsewhere, "They're gathered behind the pillars. Continue the plan! We'll take 'em all out right here!" Heeding his words, you move, attaching to one of the glowing pillars that surrounded us. We were confined in a massive space created under the Chapel and built out of the material created by the hardening of Titan's skin. The entire place was illuminated with an icy blue as your eyes flickered to two Interior Military Police, guns already aimed at you, but you were too fast. You dodge their shots and move upwards before forcing yourself downwards and killing them both. Sasha continues her onslaught of shots towards the barrels as you see the rest of the squad also engage in combat. You turn and twist through the air, killing as many as you can in the limited time you have.

You see Mikasa also engage, killing three soldiers who continue to shoot at her. You see Levi's deadly form passing through the area, swords slicing through the enemy. But then you turn, seeing Levi do the same at the shout of an approaching man; Kenny. You see Levi barely dodge a shot he aimed at his head as they continue their fight, neck and neck. You turned away, unable to offer any assistance unless you wanted to become a hindrance to their deadly battle. You easily slice through more soldiers until you're sure you had already gotten through half. But then, you hear a familiar shout; Hange. You turn to see a woman with platinum blond hair, shoot their gear through Hange's shoulder before using the wire now attached to them to fling them at a pillar. "Hange!" you screamed in horror as they slid down, blood escaping their wound. You rushed forward, sparks flying as you approached the woman who tore them down. You barely even see the last glimmer of fear in the woman's eyes before you slice through her chest, and she falls, dead.
