Ch 34- One Last Goodbye

When you all arrive in Odiha it is dark and quiet. The atmosphere is eerie as though it holds the knowledge that everything around you will become nothing in the daybreak. The residents that would've once resided in the city have fled, as seen by the lack of ships present. Your insides churn as you think about the impending doom that has already caused destruction no doubt to other areas of Marley. You think about Libero, the city you all visited what felt like so long ago. Would the refugees that you had danced and eaten with be alright? Or were they already crushed in the steam and the footsteps of the Titans that flatten the very Earth? Deep down, however, you know it is already too late for Libero.

It was North of where you were and no doubt had already been flattened with civilians having nowhere to go and military forces too weak. Honestly, they could've had all the ammunition and weapons the world had to offer but it still would've done nothing against the constant thumping and sheer dominion of the Titans that would've approached them. You know already the despair that Gabi, Pieck and Falco have fallen into, Falco's cries of grief were heard in the confines of the ship as he awoke to the shattering news; the place they were from, their families and their friends were probably if not indefinitely dead. You also see Annie in conversation with Mikasa in the distance, a look that shields her obvious despondency on her face. You knew of her hope to save her father, but she seemed to lack the motivation to continue the fight after the indication that Libero had ceased to exist.

You frown in your perturbation and your facial features tense as you all do your best to help the Marleyan engineers. You rid of explosives lining the flying ship, putting them aside for later use, you listen and provide tools and resources they frantically call out for, and you pray that somehow the pace of their services is enough. You work for several long hours until your concentration is broken by Armin's hushed but pleading voice in the distance and your eyes widen. "This is crazy! You should still be in bed!" Levi walks unsteadily to you all, stumbling and barely walking over to you but his gaze is sharp and clouded with more than its usual vexation. "Stay in bed? If I lie down any longer, you shits are gonna forget all about me." His voice is hoarse but laden with grit as he clenches down on his teeth to stop his obvious show of pain. You sigh heavily at his words but remain unsurprised by his unwillingness to stay out of the fight despite being barely able to stand.

Your eyebrows knit together in worry as Armin tries and fails to stop him, Levi's next words however concede with what you all had to do next. "And that bearded bitch who passed out after her arm was broken is awake." He mutters bitterness doctoring his tone. "I'll be damned if we don't make her tell us where Eren's going." You walk over to him as Armin looks up to you in his despair at the lack of control he domineers over the stubborn Captain. Levi looks up ready to retort any notion that he goes back to bed, but you know that your efforts would be wasted. You offer Levi your shoulder as his gaze turns to surprise at your willingness to allow him to remain. Hooking his arm around you Armin looks in bewilderment but you turn to Levi who uses your support to go find Hange and the rest. "You know, you're just as bad at taking instructions as I am," you mutter slight annoyance in your tone but when you meet his tired eyes you smile gently. "Let's find the bearded bitch."

"Most likely, that is Eren's second target." Yelena sits in front of Hange, you, Levi, Armin, Pieck and Kiyomi as she speaks of Eren's probable location whilst upon her bed. She claimed she gave him information on two targets, the first being the Karifa Naval Port where after our raid on Libero, Global combined fleets were likely present. The second was a fortress in Marley's southern mountains, an airship research base. The two locations were the most prominent threats to the Rumbling, and with the Naval Port being likely destroyed already, the second depicted where Eren was going next. "Fort Salta..." Our eyes go to Pieck who has a dark but contemplative look on her face. "True. If he knew of the existence of weapons that had the slightest chance of harming the Founding Titan..." Yelena looks exhausted as she finishes the thoughts Pieck voiced. "I expect that's his next stop after Karifa Naval Port... He'll go to destroy the airships."
