🎶 Take on the World — You Me At Six 🎶After a very somber Good Friday, on which the girls and I visited Rodri's grave and I shed more tears than I had expected, and a very chill Holy Saturday on which we did a small bike tour, it was Easter Sunday. I had explained the story of Easter to the girls, Sofia definitely understanding more than her little sister, who asked me a hundred times at mass if Jesus really died or was just really tired before waking up again.
When we returned back home, I found a delivery guy pacing up and down in front of the entrance of my apartment building.
"Can I help you?" I asked confusedly as to what he was doing here on a holiday.
"Do you know a Mrs Isabel Vasquez?" he asked.
"That's me, why?" I asked back.
"I've got a very heavy delivery for you" he said and walked to his van before opening up the loading area. I walked there too, both my girls holding my hands.
"Who is it from?" I asked as he showed me a huge parcel.
"Springfield" he replied, checking on his tablet. "Express personal delivery" he added and looked at me with raised eyebrows, probably thinking that I was a shopaholic."Nah, come on!" I exclaimed annoyedly, that was surely stuff from Pedri's collection. Why did they had to deliver it today? At my place?
"Ok, can you help me load it in my car? It's not actually for me, well, maybe a bit, but- ok whatever, I'll get my car. Girls wait here for a second, Sofia take Blanca's hand please!" I shouted already hurrying to my car to park it closer to the delivery van. After doing so, I opened the trunk and me and the guy loaded the very heavy parcel into my trunk. I thanked him a thousand times and he just drove away after I signed the delivery confirmation, probably annoyed as hell that he had to work today. Then, I debated on what to do. I wasn't overly motivated to get home and cook a bomb-ass Easter meal and I didn't want to have that parcel blocking my whole trunk.
"How about we quickly drive to Pedri's place, mama unloads this and then we pick up some pizza from Da Nanni?" I asked the girls, who nodded overly excited by my genius idea.I knew that Pedri was at home with his family, so I didn't bother calling and annoy him. I'd just deliver the parcel to whoever opened the door and drive away again, trying to disturb them as little as possible.
"Ok girls, you wait here a second" I said after I had parked in reverse in Pedri's driveway. I quickly hurried out and rang the doorbell, hoping that Fernando would open up and I could get this done as quickly as possible. However, it was Pedri himself who opened up."Well, this is quite the honour that Mrs Vasquez joins our humble gathering" he chuckled as he crossed his arms and looked at me, expecting that I told him the reason for my visit.
"Hi, happy Easter first of all. Those stupid Springfield guys delivered the parcel full with samples for your collection to my place and it's heavy as fuck, so I didn't want to get it upstairs and downstairs again. Could you just help me unload it quickly and we'll just go through it next week?" I asked him. "I am very sorry to disturb you on a holiday!" I added, hoping that he wasn't too pissed about me showing up today."Sure" he said and shot me a smile before walking with me to my car. "Hello girls" he said as he opened the trunk.
"We're going to get pizza now!" Sofia shouted excitedly and I closed my eyes in annoyance.
"Pizza? At Easter?" he asked, a bit bewildered.
"I'm just... too lazy to cook, ok? These days happen" I said a bit harshly as I feared he would judge me of not being a good mother.
"I know, chill! You could just eat and spend the afternoon with us" he said nonchalantly, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"No, no. Your family is here and it's a holiday, we can't intrude" I quickly said.
"It's my house, I can invite who I want. And trust me, mum and Fernando went overboard with the cooking again, we could feed half of Barcelona" he chuckled and I had to crack a small smile too.
"Yes mama! Let's stay with Pedri!" Blanca now exclaimed and I didn't see a way out.
"Fine. But you unload this thing first" I said.
