Trepidation

Mella stumbled through the snow, tired and cold. As she wrapped her arms around herself, she wished she had brought her jacket with her. She didn't know how much walking she had done, but it seemed like a lot.

Her vision trembled, and her steps were getting stiffer and clumsier by the minute. Eventually, she came across Sans and a taller skeleton, who she assumed to be his brother. As they noticed her, she tried to listen to what they were saying.

"SANS! IS THAT A HUMAN?" Sans responded, "nah, bro. I think that's a rock. The human looked behind herself in confusion, then she noticed the rock laying on the ground behind her. Papyrus frowned. "OH."

"hey, but what's that in front of the rock?" Sans said, causing Papyrus to gasp once more. "IS-...IS THAT A HUMAN?" Papyrus whispered to Sans, although it was too loud to even be considered as whispering. Sans nodded, which left Papyrus practically jumping up and down like a little child. "SANS! I FOUND A-"

Mella stopped listening to Papyrus' bantering, zoning out as she stared at a tree in the distance. Her mind became fuzzy, and there was a ringing in her ears. She felt almost dizzy, swaying a bit from side to side. She suddenly found her vision going dark, and the next thing she knew, she was falling towards the ground. The last thing she heard was muffled yelling.

Sans' POV(third person):

What just happened? One moment, the human was fine, he and Papyrus were having a sibling banter, and the next thing he knew, when they both turned to ask the human their opinion, the human was unconscious and laying in the snow. Papyrus had panicked, worrying so much that the human was broken or something like that.

Sans couldn't remember. He wasn't focused on what Papyrus was saying. Something about everything felt off, different, like none of this was supposed to happen. Lost in his thoughts, he didn't even realize he and Papyrus had already arrived back at their house.

Sans snapped out of his thoughts as Papyrus placed the human down on the couch. Staring at he human's face, he noticed how pale she looked. As he felt her forehead, his eyesockets widened at how cold her skin felt.

Why did she look so tired? "bro, i think the human might've been in the snow for too long. do ya mind getting some blankets to warm her up with?" Papyrus nodded, quickly dashing up the stairs into his room to find spare blankets.

Sans sighed, staring back at the human. She was quite odd. Her sweater looked rather beat up, and he could see faint marks on her neck and face. He didn't bother to stare at her any longer, considering that would be seen as creepy if the human woke up.

Papyrus came rushing down the stairs with a pile of four blankets. The two got to work with wrapping the blankets around Mella, adding in a few pillows here and there for extra comfort. Sans didn't know why they felt the need to do this, but he supposed it was just so the human didn't die in front of Papyrus.

He didn't know how well Papyrus would take it if the human died while they tried to care for them. His poor soul would've most likely not dealt with it well, but it wasn't the time to focus on that. He pushed away those thoughts and teleported to his room, flopping onto his bed and falling asleep. He could wonder about everything some other time.

Papyrus' POV(third person):

He wasn't aware of what exactly happened, but when he saw the human unconscious, laying in the cold snow, he panicked. He didn't know what to do other than to help the poor human. All he could think about was how cold the human felt as he carried her.

Papyrus shook his head and left the house, deciding that Sans could take care of the human while he was gone. He left Snowdin, entering Waterfall, where he felt more at ease. He let out a sigh and continued walking. Soon enough, he found Undyne's house and knocked on the door.

The door opened after a moment of silence, and there stood Undyne, his best friend. Papyrus smiled and happily greeted Undyne, quickly changing his expression to a sour one when she began to noogie him. "HOW MANY TIMES MUST I SAY THIS? DON'T NOOGIE THE SKELETON!" Undyne let out a loud laugh, grinning. "Nice to see you too, Papyrus! So, what brings you here, buddy?" Papyrus frowned a bit, thinking back to the human. He contemplated whether or not it'd be a good idea to tell Undyne about the human, but he quickly decided against it.

"W-WEll, I foun- nyeh..made a new friend today and...something bad happened to them, so I'm a bit shaken up about that.." His voice trailed off at the end, leaving Undyne feeling worried about the poor skeleton. She hugged him and gave him a firm pat on the back. "Hey, don't worry, they're gonna get better soon, alright? Whatever happened, I'm sure your friend is strong enough to overcome it. I mean, they gotta be strong if they're friends with the Great Papyrus, right?" Papyrus lightened up at that.

Undyne was currently teaching Papyrus another lesson in cooking when Papyrus had gotten an urgent call from Sans. He could tell that Sans was panicked, and that usually doesn't happen often. Papyrus quickly excused himself and left Undyne's house, running back home in such a hurry that he had arrived back so quickly that it was almost like he teleported.

When he opened the door, the human was on the floor screaming while Sans loomed over them, trying to calm the human down. Papyrus instinctively scooped up the human and held her in his arms, quietly shushing her. The human seemed to calm down a bit, but she still seemed scared and in pain. It was at that moment that Papyrus felt a wet substance drip down his arms.

He looked down and noticed blood was staining the floor below him. Quickly placing the human on the couch, he tells Sans to try and block the blood while he looked for bandages. His healing magic wasn't the best, and he didn't know how deep that wound could be. He rushed into the bathroom, opening the cabinet and grabbing the bandages.

As he ran out into the living room, he saw Sans trying to get close to Mella while she lashed out at him. A pair of wings grew from her back and shielded her, shocking the two skeletons. How did a human have wings? Papyrus shook his head, focusing on the injury the...'human' had.

He ran over to the 'human' and quickly pinned her down on her stomach with blue bones, wincing as he realized how bloody the back of her shirt was. Her wings kept whacking him, but with the help of Sans' blue magic, he was able to lift her shirt and apply the bandages, at least not before cleaning up the wound.

After he had done so, the 'human' passed out, and her wings vanished. The two brothers let out sighs of relief. As Papyrus put away the bandages, he got a message from Undyne asking about why he left so quickly. He messages her back, only saying, 'SANS NEEDED MY HELP WITH SOMETHING. SORRY ABOUT THE SCARE!'

Papyrus put away his phone and went into the kitchen to cook some spaghetti, just to let out some stress from what had just happened. He began thinking about whether or not the 'human' would like his spaghetti. He'd have to ask her when they're better. For now, he'll have Sans buy food from Grillby's for the 'human'.
