Chapter 5

. Flashback to when Puffball first entered the circus.

It was another day at the circus.

Caine was about to announce a new activity when someone new appeared.

She was childlike & had a cotton cloud for a head & buttons for eyes.

She looked around confused, then scared.

"Where... am I?" The child asked, "Who are you guys?"

"Looks like we have a new member!" Caine went up to the child. "What's your name, kid?"

"Um, my name is... my... name... is..." The child now looked terrified. "I... don't... remember..."

"Not to worry," Caine explained, "everyone forgets their name once they enter the digital circus!"

The child put a hand to her face, seemingly looking for a headset to take off, but she didn't feel any headset, just cotton.

"How do I take the headset off?" The child asked nervously.

"You can't." Jax replied quite bluntly.

"I can't go home?"

"This is your new home!" Caine added.

The child looked like she were about to cry.

& she did.

Ragatha was quick to try & comfort her.

Everyone soon realised that this was a bit much for a literal child to take in, let alone accept fully.

After a while, the child had calmed down enough to choose her new name.

"So, what's your name?" Caine asked again.

"Um... P-Puffball!" She answered, "Puffball will be my name."

"Excellent name, Puffball!" Caine said, "& now that you've been acquainted with everyone, time to give you a tour of the circus."

The circus tour was so quick & so confusing that by the end of it, Puffball felt like she was going to vomit.

Thankfully she didn't.

She knew she was going to have to get used to this place.
