AUTHOR'S POV
The air was filled with gentle, rhythmic chants as the fresh ocean breeze flowed over the fire. The only thing marrying the otherwise perfectly peaceful atmosphere was the annoying sound of his younger brother.
"Bade bhaiya, hume kuch paise chahiye the, orphanage mein donate karne ke liye" Vikram, his cousin brother whispered in his ear.
(Big brother, I need some money to donate to the orphanage)
Eklavya ignored him while continuing to follow the rituals of the ceremony. The cool sea breeze blew over his bare chest as he made offerings to the fire in front of him. Although he wasn't particularly a religious man, he had profound respect towards tradition.
It was the 13th death anniversary of his grandfather, parents, and younger brother. And as their only son, and the king of this empire, he performed the ceremony each year so their souls could rest in peace.
"Bade bhaiya, please" Vikram again begged.
(Big brother, please)
A flicker of annoyance passed through Eklavya but he was unaffected like the waves of the ocean.
Finally, the ceremony ended. He stood up and touched his Chacha and Chachi, Jaideep Singh Rajput, and Shefali Singh Rajput's feet, who blessed him with a fake smile. Why not? After all, he was their money-making machine.
(Father's younger brother and his wife)
He then went and touched Maharani Gayatri Singh Rajput, his grandmother's feet. She blessed him with a straight face, like the queen she is, emotions are strictly prohibited. But she was the only one in this entire palace who knew about the greed hidden behind its beautiful walls. This empire is not built with cement and water. It is built with flesh and blood. Flesh and blood of her family.
She believed that her grandson will bring out the real culprits behind the destruction of this once-beautiful empire. But he is living in his own grief forcing her to believe that this empire's end is near.
Although there is democracy in the country, still people of Udaipur respect her like the Maharani and Eklavya like their king.
This empire is not the only thing from which they gained respect. Eklavya is one of the richest self-made billionaires in the country after his father's death.
"Bade bhaiya, paise" Vikram again came behind him.
(Big brother, money)
Gayatri looked at her younger grandson. Orphanage? Yeah, if nightclubs count as orphanages, then he is definitely going to donate to them.
