Dreadwing joins the team

It's been almost two weeks since Optimus lost the Star Saber and the team had been adapting to the fact that Megaton took an arm of a past prime to use the Forge to create the dark saber. Also during this time, the team had lost the omega keys that they had to Starscream, who the team figures that Starscream would use the keys to get back to Megaton's good graces. Also during this time, Bulkhead recovered well and Ratchet cleared him to go out in the field. "You okay Night?" Smokescreen asked his sister who was going through a datapad. "Just remembering my old rescue team so I am sorry if I zoned out," Nightshard asked shaking her head to clear it. "Well I know that you miss them but you still carry them with you," Smokescreen said. The pair talked about their family knowing they must carry a legacy. Nightshard found a picture of their carrier with their uncles Dreadwing and Skyquake when they were their age. Smokescreen looked at the photo as well before noticing that Nightshard has some resemblance to their carrier and that he and Bee do have some resemblance but he knows that they mostly take after their sire. 

"Still think that Uncle Dreadwing could switch sides?" Smokescreen asked. "Don't know but he recognizes that we're the only family he has left," Nightshard said. The siblings can agree that they have to try and get through to Dreadwing, but it will be hard to do so without facing him. "Well, we have to think of something because we don't know the next time we'll meet him," Smokescreen said holding his sister close. Bee could feel that Nightshard was torn about their uncle but was glad that Smokescreen was trying to comfort her despite everything going on at the moment. This is something that the three of them know because they are a split-spark trine, they are more intuned with each other but because they spent so long apart that was strained. 'Everything okay with you two?' Bee asked over their bond. 'We're good just having a conversation about Uncle dearest,' Smokescreen said with sarcasm lacing his voice. Of the three, Smokescreen is the only one who has yet to meet their uncle in person with Bee and Shard meeting him when he arrived on Earth. 'If anyone has a chance to get him on your side it's Nightshard,'  Bee said trying to get his sister to laugh which worked. 'Very funny Bee I've tried that twice already once when he met him and the second when I went with Uncle Orian trying to get the Apex Armor the first time 'round,'  Nightshard said remembering that whole ordeal from fighting alongside her uncle for the first time to almost losing Bulkhead from Tox-En.

The pair went back down laughing because Nightshard brought up Smokescreen running into a wall and giving himself a black eye as younglings. "What are you two laughing about?" Arcee asked seeing the siblings. "Smokescreen giving himself a black eye when we were younglings," Nightshard said with a smile on her face. 'I remember that and he tried to run from Uncle Ratch but was brought back by Uncle Hide who carried him upside down the leg,' Bee said laughing. Smokescreen looked at his brother with a betrayed look because he wanted to forget about that last part. Both Optimus and Ratchet looked at the siblings knowing that they still held fond memories of their sparklinghoods even the memories of laughing at each other. "Well Ironhide wouldn't have got smokescreen like that if he hadn't run away when I tried to look at it," Ratchet said. "In my defense, I was fine and didn't need to be looked over," Smokescreen said. "You ran face-first into the wall which we learned had a handle sticking out of it for some reason," Nightshard said. The humans looked at the team happy to hear more stories from the bots about Smokescreen since he was still new to the team, which was the case for Arcee and Bulkhead. Smokescreen pouted at his sister, knowing she was right about the whole incident but was more than willing to laugh it off. 

It was moments like this that Optimus missed from before the war because since the whole thing started everyone had sacrificed and lost something in the process. Nightshard was the biggest example from the start because she had lost her rescue team and her fellow rescue bots to the Decepticons before the war officially started. "I picked up a coded message," Optimus said when he saw the message. "I bet it's Starscream again," Bulkhead said guessing who it is. "It's Dreadwing," Ratchet said looking shocked at who sent them the message. "Dreadwing of all bots under Buckethead's command because isn't he one of his most loyal followers other than Soundwave and Shockwave?" Nightshard asked because she was confused about the whole thing. Everyone on the team knows that Dreadwing had come to Earth to join up with Megatron and get payback for the death of Skyquake. After learning that he was on opposing sides with his nephews and niece, he was having second thoughts because he wanted to protect whatever family he had left.
