Calla's POV:
"One more week Cal" I told myself. "Just one more short week." Summer was just around the corner and I couldn't wait. Soon, there would be no snobby girls, no cocky guys, no more anything to do with this place for a three months. It would be just me, my wolf, and my woods. I would be free to run as fast and as far as I pleased. But I couldn't think about that too much because I had a math test in 5 minutes. Super.
After suffering through math and german, the final bell rang. "Only four days left to go now, and then it was bye bye sophmore year" I thought to myself with a smile. After packing up my things, I strolled to my locker where i was greated by one of my favorite people in the world. "Steph!" I cried out as we gave eachother a big squeezy hug. "Hey pretty lady!' Stephen said. Stephen was my best friend since the fifth grade. He was a year older and hated just about everybody he knew. No wonder we got along so well. "Hey I thought I might drive you home today." He said smiling. "What about my car?" I asked with concern for my baby. "Taken care of." He winked at me. I smirked and we headed out to his shiny black convertable. We rode home with the top down and both of our burnette waves ruffling in the wind. Stephen and I could be brother and sister we looked so alike. We both had brown hair, his was Bieber styled and mine came down to my mid back. We had the same tan skin and Aqua eyes, even the same sharp canines. Oh, wait. The canines were just a wolf thing.
Steph and I belonged to the West Mountain Ridge pack of Washington. We had since we turned 16. I was new to this in the extream. I had only just turned 16 over spring break. So far, I loved our pack. It consisted of My parents, Stephens parents, Ashley's dad, and Karens dad. All of our other elders had been killed off by rouges. We had 14 members to our pack out of and original 20. Lisa and John were my parents, Bill and Amy were stephen's. Erik is Ashley's father and Andrew is Karen's dad. Ashley's and Karen's mothers had died in childbirth, which was common for were mothers. Because of their toutured pasts, they tended to stay close together. The "kids" of the pack were Ashley (18), Karen (18), Nick (20), Walter (19), Bryn, who was my best female friend (17), Stephen (17), myself (16), and Josh (21). Most of them were mated, with the exception of Ashley, Nick, and I. This was a problem becuase if we didn't find mates soon, we'd be kicked out of the pack. It was a long standing myth that if you couldn't find a mate before you were 25, then you had bad gynes and would be cast out in hopes of making a stronger pack. I, having had all of this information dumped on me on the same terrifying and wonderful day that I turned, had a lot of work to do.
At home, I was greeted by my parents and the rest of the pack. We lived in what would be a mansion in human standards. But to wolves, our pack house was tiny. We each had our own full bedroom and bathroom complete with changing rooms and walk in closets. The rest of the house was filled with only two kitches, a furnished basement, and three living rooms. After clarifying when dinner was, I raced up to my room, which had a beautiful color scheme of light blue, yellow, green, and silver. Once inside, I shut the door and struggled to decide what music to play. After narrowing it down to "Sea Wolf", 'Neon Trees" and "Nevershoutnever", I blared a playlist of them and started to sing. " Your lips are nettles, Your tongue is wine, Your laughter's liquid, But your body's pine. You love all sailors, But hate the beach, You say "Come touch me", But you're always out of reach. In the dark you tell me of a flower, that only blooms in the violet hour" I was about to begin the second verse when Bryn busted down the door and greeted me with, "Damn girl you sing fine, and do you by chance have any tampons?" I stared in disbelief. She stared back, and then we both burst into laughter until we had tears runnign down our faces. After calming myself i said, "Why, Bryn, I knew you were a spunky, kick ass blonde with attitude but i never would've expected this from you. What would Matt say?" I teased her. Matt was her mate. Or "Her Everything" as she called him. "He would be proud!" A male voice answered from the doorway. "Oh, hey Matt." I greeted him. "Hey Cal, do you mind if I steal Bryn for a few hours. We have a date tonight." He says. I take the oppertunity to get back at Bryn. "No I don't mind. But you may have to stop at Walgreens for some tampons. It seems as though someone just started!" Bryn took her lovestriken gaze off Matt to glare at me as I giggled. We were both startled when Matt laughed. "Well good to know she's still getting it with all the fun we've been having lately" He said seductively while raking his eyes over her. She grinned back and I was afraid that they would "have fun" right here on my carpet. "Ewwww! TMI! TMI!" I cried out. "Payback beeotch." Bryn says. She kisses Matt and whispers "Thanks babe." and then they leave for their movie. I was glad. Seeing them together made me sad. It wasn't that I wasn't happy for Bryn, I was. But it made the wolf part of me sad that I didn't have one yet. "Keep your head up" I told myself. "You're still very younge." and with reassurance flowing through me, I turned up my music, laid my head down, and fell asleep with the moon in my window, and dreams just waiting to burst from my brain.
