Ashley's POV:
The final bell rang, and just like that, I was done with high school. But that was the last thing on my mind. Calla had agreed to take Nick and I out to find mates. Nick hadn't agreed when I first asked, but in first period today, I recieved a text from him saying "Ok, I'll go," Finally. I'd feel better with Nick there. I had hope for him. As I walked out to the parking lot, I saw Karen and Jack and they waved. I faked a smile and waved back. It hurt so bad. I ran to my car to aviod crying in front of Karen. As I drove home, I kept it together pretty well. I tried visualizing what my mate would look like. Tall, maybe pale, with big brown eyes and dark short hair. Oh no! I was starting to picture Jack! I got my mind off it and drove home forcing myself to only focus on the road. When I got into the garage, I parked and sat in my car while the tears came. They stopped falling just as Calla pulled in with her awful Ford. I had never liked the yellow color on it, but she seemed to love it. "Hey Ash. You ready?" she greeted me. 'Yeah, let me go get Nick." I said with a smile.
After driving from place to place, bar to bar, it was 8:40 and we were in Mt. Rainer National Park. We were just about to call it off when Nick started walking away from us. Assuming he was just upset that the first day had been unsuccesful, Calla and I followed him. As we rounded a corner, we saw him pick up a small burnette girl and look her in the eyes. She smile and they said "Mine." at the same time and began kissing. What must've been the girls friends looked at each other and us knowingly and smiled so big. I couldn't help my own smile. Nick had found his mate. Now I just had to find mine.
After a long drive home with Jane, Nick's mate, he introduced her to the pack. Everyone seemed to love her. And Nick couldn't stop smiling. After we all had dinner, Nick annouced, "If you'll excuse Ms Jane and I, We have some unfinished business to attend to." He smiled as she blushed and picked her up Bridal style to carrie her to his room. I smiled at them. And I was happy. Nick finding his mate gave me hope. "Next thursday." I told myself with confidence.
