That you left on my porch that day
When I didn't want to see you
I waited until you left
To take the box of rings
As I threw them out
To only keep a few of them

But mostly untouched and forgotten
Yet I can't seem to throw them away
For the rings give me
a much deeper meaning
For a lesson that I have learned
Years ago
Never hold on to someone who never cared about you
