Sebastian and Mia exchanged a glance, silently noting the date and time of the meeting. It was clear that the principal attached great significance to the gathering, and Sebastian made a mental note to ensure that both he and Mia were prepared to contribute.

"The meeting is expected to last approximately one hour," the principal continued, his gaze sweeping over the room. "I encourage all faculty members to attend, as your input and participation are vital to the success of our school community."

"Aside from our regular agenda items, this faculty meeting will also be an opportune moment to introduce the new literacy program to all staff," the principal continued, his tone carrying a note of enthusiasm. "Not only will this program benefit our students, but it also holds potential benefits for our staff members as well."

Sebastian and Mia exchanged a knowing glance, recognizing the significance of introducing the program to the entire staff. It was a chance to garner support and enthusiasm from their colleagues, laying the foundation for a successful launch.

As the principal finished outlining the agenda, Mia hesitated for a moment before speaking up. "Excuse me, Mr. Thompson," she interjected, her voice hesitant but determined. "Do you think my presence will be needed at the faculty meeting?"

"Mia, I appreciate your enthusiasm and dedication," the principal began, his tone measured. "But I must also acknowledge that the faculty meeting is scheduled to take place after working hours, and I understand that you typically leave by 2:30 PM."

Sebastian glanced at Mia, concerned furrowing his brow slightly. He knew that Mia's commitment to her work was unwavering, but he also understood the importance of respecting her personal boundaries and work-life balance.

Mia nodded, understanding the principal's hesitation. "I completely understand, Mr. Thompson," she replied, her voice tinged with disappointment. "I'll try to make arrangements to adjust my schedule so that I can attend the meeting."

Sebastian responded with a nod in acceptance to be present during the faculty meeting.

With the matter settled, the principal concluded the meeting, leaving Sebastian and Mia to continue what they were doing before.

Feeling a sense of awareness wash over her, Mia realized that she had been standing next to Sebastian's desk for quite some time. With a gentle smile, she excused herself, silently acknowledging the need to return to her own workspace.

As Mia excused herself and made her way back to her desk, which was conveniently located adjacent to Sebastian's, a subtle ache formed in Sebastian's chest. He watched her graceful movement with a sense of longing, wishing she didn't have to leave his side, even if just for a moment.

Despite the short distance between them, Sebastian couldn't help but feel a growing emptiness as Mia's presence retreated. The space beside him suddenly felt colder, devoid of her warmth and energy.

Sebastian's eyes lingered on Mia as she settled into her chair, her focus shifting back to her own tasks. He couldn't help but feel a sense of longing as he watched her, wishing he could find a reason for her to remain by his side a little longer.

As Mia settled into her desk, Sebastian turned his attention back to her, a sense of determination in his eyes. "Mia," he began, his voice firm but gentle, "the first order of business for us is to identify the essential skills that our students need to work on."
