Fritz was fast asleep.

His phone had eventually turned off from inactivity.

It was a late night, and Fritz was completely done.

He'd completely forgot to take a shower, and was sleeping in his day clothes.

"Uuuuugh."

"Who could be calling now, isn't it midnight?" Fritz said, waking from his slumber

Fritz tiredly took his hand and looked answered the ringing phone, still attached it its charger

"Hallo?" Fritz said, drowsy

"Oh hello Fritz! This is Daniel's mom" the voice said through the phone

Fritz jolted upwards.

"Ohhh, uhhhhh. Hello Mrs Gotthard!" Fritz said.

"I'm doing just fine, Fritz. Do you know where Daniel went off to? He's past his school day bed time." Daniel's mom said.

"Uh.... I mean, I.... have an idea where he's at, but I don't know where he is...." Fritz said, trying not to alarm Daniel's mom too much to the true extent of the situation

"Oh, great, can you tell me where you think he is then, I'll come pick him up." Daniel's mother said.

"Well I uh.... You see....... Uhmmmmm......" Fritz began

"HOW DO I EXPLAIN THIS MESS?!?" Fritz said in his mind.

"Fritz? A voice said from downstairs

Fritz's blood turned to ice

Fritz! You should be off your electronics right now young man!"

It was Fritz's mom, calling from downstairs

Things were starting to get out of hand quickly

"I, uh... Daniel's mom, I got to go." Fritz said

"Fritz! Are you talking to someone up there?" Fritz's mom said.

*thump

*thump

*THUMP

"I gotta hang up now!" Fritz said.

*SLAM!

Too late.

"Who on God's earth are you talking to this late at night?!" Fritz's mother scolded.

"I....uh....." Fritz stammered

"Who is this? Did someone walk into the room?" Daniel's mom said, from the phone.

Fritz mom plucked the phone out of her son's hand.

"Hey!" Fritz said.

"Fritz. Go to sleep, everyone else is asleep and you aren't even in your sleepwear yet!" His mom said

Fritz's mom stormed out of the room, taking Fritz's phone with her.

(Unaware of the situation currently going on inside of it)

She closed Fritz's door

"Hey, this is Fritz's mom, who was my son calling?" She said

"Oh, hello Mrs Bendler. I was calling your son, Daniel has been missing for a while now and I've been trying to figure out where he is." Mrs Gotthard said

"Daniel? Missing?" Mrs Bendler said

"Yes, I'm afraid so, I thought he went over to your house after school, you do know that Fritz and Daniel both take the same bus, maybe they planned a meeting or something?" Mrs Gotthard responded

"No, I don't remember seeing Daniel anywhere, I saw Fritz head upstairs when he got back from school with his nose deep in that one high-pitched game he keeps playing, Azure.... Something." Mrs Bendler said

"Oh.... So he hasn't been to your house, I've practically turned the whole place upside down over here?" Mrs Gotthard said, her voice dropping a bit, with an in,long of nervousness leaking through the phone speaker.

"Should I call the police?" Mrs Bendler said.

"Now, now, I don't think it's that drastic. It's not like he could've disappeared into thin air. But where could he have gone??" Mrs Gotthard said.
