Chapter 1: The Return

After the whole Elena situation, Dylan got called down to the hospital because Caroline got into a car crash. Dylan arrives at the hospital and walks up to a shaken up Liz. Dylan says, "Liz. I came as soon as I got the message. Is she okay?" Liz says, "She's in surgery. It's... They're doing everything they can. I need your help, Dylan." Dylan says, "Sure. Anything, Liz." As they walk over to a corner, Liz says, "Mayor Lockwood is dead. They thought he was a vampire. They put him in the basement." Dylan fakes being shocked as she says, "Mayor Lockwood was a vampire?" Liz says, "No, no, no. A mistake was made. They said he dropped like the others when John's device went off, but he..." Liz pauses her sentence as someone walks by them as she continues to say, "He couldn't have been a vampire! I've known the man my whole life! And now Carol Lockwood is gonna want answers. And all I can think about right now is Caroline and... and, um..." Liz chokes up as Dylan rubs Liz's arm as she softly says, "It's okay." Dylan brings Liz into hug as Liz cries with Dylan rubbing her back as she says, "It's okay." Dylan thinks about giving Caroline her blood to heal her. After trying to comfort Liz, Dylan goes to make her way to Caroline's room when she pauses seeing Elena and Bonnie. Dylan overhears their conversation as Elena says, "Bonnie. How's Caroline?" Bonnie says, "She's weak. They don't know if she's gonna make it." Elena says, "What? Is there something that you can do like, like a spell or something?" Dylan walks over and says, "She doesn't know how. Do you?" Bonnie says, "No. I don't." Dylan says, "No, you don't because it took Emily years to learn a spell like that." Bonnie says, "Yeah, well, I can take down a vampire. That spell was easy to learn." Dylan looks at Elena and says, "I can give Caroline some blood." Elena says, "No, no way." Dylan says, "No, just enough to heal her. She'll be safe in the hospital and it'll be out of her system in a day. She'd be better, Elena." Elena says, "It's too risky. I can't agree to that." Bonnie says, "Do it." Dylan and Elena both look at Bonnie. Bonnie says, "This is Caroline. Okay? We can't let her die! Do it." Dylan looks at Bonnie and says, "If I do this, you and me, call a truce?" Bonnie says, "No. But you'll do it anyway... for Elena." Bonnie walks away. As Dylan goes to walk away, Elena says, "Dylan, wait. There's something I need to tell you." Dylan says, "Oh, are you here to apologize for what tonight?" Elena's confused and says, "What are you talking about?" Dylan says, "Really? Earlier, on the porch we were talking, and then you kissed me." Elena says, "Okay, I don't have time for this, Dylan." Dylan says, "Then make time. I don't take what you did lightly. I told you that I don't have feelings for you and then you kiss me. Like what the fuck?" Jenna walks over and says, "Elena, I came as soon as I got your message. So how is John?" Elena looks at Jenna confused and says, "Where have you been?" Jenna says, "At the fire department. I had to fill out a report. I told you earlier, I..." Elena says, "No, you didn't." Jenna says, "Yes, I did." Elena says, "No, Jenna, you didn't." Jenna says, "Yes, I did." Dylan looks between the two and Dylan sighs realizing that Elena didn't kiss her, Katherine did. Which means that Katherine is back in town and Dylan says, "You have got to be kidding me." Elena and Jenna look at Dylan confused as Dylan walks away. Later, Dylan and Elena walk into the Gilbert Residence and find the living room trashed and Stefan on the ground. Stefan gets up as Elena says, "Stefan?" Stefan says, "Elena." Elena says, "W-what happened?" Dylan says, "Katherine happened." Elena widens her eyes and she goes to check on Jeremy. Dylan looks at Stefan and says, "Did she say what she wanted?" Stefan says, "No." Dylan says, "Woman certainly knows how to make an entrance." Stefan says, "She said she fooled one of us at least. What does that, what does that mean?" Dylan says, "She pretended to be Elena too when I showed up earlier tonight." Elena walks over to them and says, "I told Jeremy. I can't lie to him anymore." Stefan walks up to Elena and says, "Are you alright?" Elena says, "No, I'm not alright. I thought that with all the tomb vampires gone things would get better." Stefan says, "I know. We all did." Elena says, "Katherine was in this house. That means that she's been invited in. What are we gonna do?" Dylan says, "Move." Elena gives Dylan a glare as she says, "Very helpful. Thank you." Dylan says, "Katherine wants you dead. There's zero you can do about it you would be dead, but you're not. So clearly she has other plans." Stefan says, "Right, and we need to find out what those other plans are and not provoke her in the process. What happened tonight when you thought she was Elena?" Dylan crosses her arms and she says, "She kissed me. I immediately pushed her away, because I wouldn't have done something like to you, Stefan. I got angry and walked away. Then I realized at the hospital when Elena and Jenna were talking that it was actually Katherine." Elena says, "I'm glad you knew it was not me, because I would never hurt Stefan like that. Anyways, John must know something. There has to be a reason why Katherine tried to kill him." Dylan says, "She's Katherine. She loves to play games, and you're fooling yourself if you think you're gonna find out what she's up to because she wants you to know." Stefan says, "No, actually, Elena's right. John could know something through Isobel. Your mother, she was in touch with Katherine so maybe we can go to the hospital and get him to talk." Dylan says, "I've got a better idea." Elena says, "What's that?" Dylan says, "I'm just gonna ignore the bitch." Elena says, "Is that smart?" Dylan says, "If Katherine thinks she's being ignored... it'll lure her out, she'll make a move." Stefan says, "Yeah? Then what?" Dylan says, "Stake her, rip her head off. Something poetic. We'll see." Dylan walks away. Later, Dylan gives Caroline some of her blood to heal her wounds.
