Chapter 14: Crying Wolf

Dylan's walking down the stairs of her house with Andie. Andie says, "I'm late. This is such a crazy day. I'm, uh, covering the historical society's high tea." Dylan sarcastically says, "Ooh! Sounds fun." Andie says, "Yeah. It's for some visiting writer. He's writing a book on small town Virginia. It's a big snooze." Dylan's curious as she says, "Writer? What's his name?" Andie says, "Uh, Elijah Smith." Dylan scoffs and says, "Smith. He's using Smith?" Andie smiles at Dylan and says, "Can I just say you're so sweet, you're funny, you're honest." Dylan compels Andie and says, "And you're falling hard." Andie says, "You might be the one." Dylan smiles and says, "Perfect." As Dylan opens the door for Andie, she smiles and says, "Have a great day, beautiful." Andie pecks Dylan's lips as Andie walks away, she sees Alaric and says, "Oh. Hey, Alaric." Andie looks back at Dylan and says, "Later." Dylan waves with a smile as Andie walks away. Dylan looks at Alaric and says, "My new girlfriend, Andie Star, Action News." Alaric says, "It's not called action news." Dylan says, "Whatever. Come on in." Alaric walks in as Dylan closes the door, she says, "So John Gilbert gave me this to kill Elijah." Dylan walks into the living room over to the desk where the dagger is as she unwraps the cloth and says, "Said you have to dip the dagger in the remains of an old white ash tree that dates back to the Originals. If there's any truth in that..." Dylan hands the dagger to Alaric as Alaric says, "So you think it's a setup?" Dylan says, "It could be. Guy's a weasel. Wouldn't put anything past him. What are you up to today, Mr. Saltzman?" Alaric says, "Well, Jenna and I were supposed to go to her family's lake house, but somehow, we both got roped into doing this historical society thing at the Lockwood's." Dylan's interest is peaked as she says, "Where Elijah's the guest of honor?" Alaric says, "Tell me you're not gonna kill him at the tea party." Dylan says, "No. That would be stupid. I want to know his end game before I kill him. But I do think it's time Elijah and I officially met." Later, Dylan walks into the Lockwood Mansion for the historical society tea party seeing Elijah talking with Carol. As Dylan goes to approach them, Jenna walks up to Dylan and says, "Dylan, what are you doing here?" Just as Dylan's about to answer, Andie walks up with a smile and says, "Hi. You came." Dylan smiles at Andie and says, "Hi." Andie smiles as Dylan pecks her lips. Jenna looks between the two with a knowing smile as Dylan looks at Jenna and says, "Thanks for introducing us, Jenna." Dylan walks away and over to Carol and Elijah. Carol smiles at Dylan and says, "Dylan. What a surprise." Dylan smiles and says, "Hi, Carol." Carol kisses Dylan's cheek as Carol looks at Elijah and says, "Elijah, I want you to meet Dylan Salvatore. Her family is one of Mystic Falls' founding families." Dylan nods and says, "Mm-hmm. Such a pleasure to meet you." Elijah says, "No. Pleasure's mine." The two shake hands. Later, Dylan and Elijah walk into a room to speak privately. Elijah says, "What can I do for you, Dylan?" Dylan says, "I was hoping we could have a word." Elijah says, "Where's Elena?" Dylan says, "Safe with Stefan. They're laying low, you know. Bit of a werewolf problem." Elijah says, "Oh, yeah. I heard about that." Dylan says, "I'm sure you did since it was your witch that saved the day." Elijah says, "You are welcome." Dylan says, "Which adds to my confusion on exactly why you're here." Elijah says, "Why don't you just stay focused on keeping Elena safe and leave the rest to me?" As Elijah walks away, Dylan speeds in front of Elijah as she says, "Not good enough." Elijah grabs Dylan's throat and speeds her against the wall as Elijah says, "You young vampires, so arrogant. How dare you come in here and challenge me?" Dylan grunts, "You can't kill me. It's not part of the deal." Elijah says, "Silence." Elijah grabs a pencil and punctures it into Dylan's neck as Dylan screams in pain. Elijah lets go of Dylan as Dylan rips the pencil out of her neck with a pant. Elijah says, "I'm an Original. Show a little respect." Elijah holds out a handkerchief as Dylan grabs it putting it up to her neck to stop the bleeding. Elijah says, "The moment you cease to be of use to me, you're dead. So, you should do what I say. Keep Elena safe." Elijah walks away. Later, Dylan's home sitting in her library with Alaric as she says, "Today was a bust." Alaric says, "Yeah, how's the throat?" Dylan says, "Sore." Alaric says, "Yeah. Elijah's one scary dude. But with nice hair. Hey. You want another one?" Dylan holds out her glass as Alaric goes to pour them another drink. Dylan says, "He's gonna be hard to kill." Alaric says, "Yeah, I'd think twice before I'd trust that dagger and some ashes to do the job. You're gonna need more info." Dylan says, "I'm out of sources." Alaric says, "What's up with you and this news chick?" Alaric walks over and hands Dylan her glass as Dylan smiles and says, "She's got spunk, huh?" Alaric says, "Just don't kill her, please." Dylan says, "I'm not gonna kill her, okay? She's just someone that I enjoy." Alaric nods and says, "Yeah. Oh, God. I gotta go. I gotta pick Jenna up. Don't worry. I''l, uh, show myself out." As Alaric walks away, Dylan says, "Good luck." As Dylan sips her drink, she hears a noise. Dylan sets her glass down and goes to check out the noise and finds Alaric with a knife in his stomach. As Dylan walks over to Alaric, he falls to the ground groaning. When all of sudden someone jumps down from the ceiling and speeds over to Dylan putting her into a choke hold. Dylan gets injected with vervain as she instantly knows this guy's a werewolf and she speeds him into a wall and then into another one before she feels herself get weak as she stops fighting. The werewolf says, "Damn, you're strong. It took the whole syringe." Two more werewolves walk in as the guy says, "Grab that one. He's dead." Then Jules walks in with a smile and says, "Hi, Dylan. Nice to see you again." Dylan closes her eyes as Jules is the last thing she sees. Later, Dylan groans awake chained up to a chair with a stake collar around her neck that's making her bleed with a dead Alaric in front of her. Dylan sees that he's wearing his ring so he should be waking up soon. Dylan looks over to see the werewolf that injected hers as he says, "Morning, sunshine. I saw this movie once some torture porn flick. Anyway, they had this collar device that was really cool. So I just modified it some with some wooden nails and when I pull...." As the werewolf pulls, Dylan groans in pain at the wooden sinking in her skin. Jules walks in and says, "So, I hear you have the moonstone." Dylan laughs as she says, "Oh, if you only knew the irony of this moment right now. Let me tell you how this is gonna go. You're gonna torture me, I don't talk someone loses a heart. Last time it was your boy Mason." Jules walks up to Dylan as she says, "This time, it'll be you." Jules nods her head at her men as he pulls on the chain making Dylan groan. Jules says, "You know what the great thing about buckshot is? It scatters through the body. Maximum damage. Where's the moonstone?" Dylan says, "Get over it, sweetheart. You're never going to get it." A voice says, "Looking for this?" Everyone looks towards Elijah as he holds up the moonstone. Elijah walks in and places it on the table and then backs away from it as he says, "Go ahead. Take it." As one of the werewolf speeds up to grab it, Elijah rips his heart out dropping the body onto the couch. Two more werewolf go to attack Elijah, but once again Elijah rips out their hearts. Dylan nods impressed. Jules speeds away as there's one werewolf left. Elijah looks down at the werewolf and as the werewolf is cowering, Elijah says, "What about you, sweetheart, huh? You want to take a shot? No? Yes? No? Where's the girl?" Dylan says, "She bolted." Elijah punches the werewolf in the face as Elijah frees Dylan from the chair. Elijah says, "You realize this is the third time I've saved your life now?" Elijah walks away taking the moonstone with him. Later, as Dylan's cleaning up the mess that the werewolves made, she's on the phone with Bonnie finding out that Elena is gonna be sacrificed by Elijah. Dylan says, "So, he planned to kill her all along." Bonnie says, "Yeah, the sacrifice is part of Elijah's plan." Dylan says, "Got it, loud and clear." Dylan hangs up as she sees that Alaric's finally awake. Dylan says, "Finally. You missed all the fun." Dylan looks down at her ruined rug and says, "I'm gonna kill Jules for what she did to my rug." Dylan rolls up the rug just as Alaric calls Jenna. Dylan takes the rug away. Later, Dylan's sitting on her bed as she calls Stefan as she explains to him what Bonnie said. Dylan says, "It was straight from the witch's mouth. He was gonna go through with the whole sacrifice. You should probably just keep her away a little longer." Stefan says, "Be careful. Try not to get yourself killed." Dylan says, "Yeah. It's been a day for that." Stefan hangs up as Dylan sighs.
