Chapter 16: The House Guest

Dylan's sitting in the living room reading the Johnathan Gilbert journal's from the lake house that Elena brought. Speaking of Elena she walks past Dylan and says, "Good morning, Dylan." Dylan smiles over at Elena when she frowns realizes it's Katherine and she grabs her and speeds her over to the wall with her hand on her throat as she angrily says, "What are you doing here? I told you to leave." 'Elena' grunts, "What is your problem?" Dylan says, "You're wearing her clothes? Like that's gonna work." 'Elena' says, "You think I'm Katherine? Why would you think that? Katherine's in a tomb. Isn't she?" Dylan lets go of 'Elena' as Stefan walks over and says, "What the hell's going on here?" 'Elena' looks at Stefan and says, "I don't know, you tell me. Is Katherine in the tomb or not?" Stefan looks upstairs as he thinks he spent his morning with Katherine and not Elena. Stefan speeds away to go check. Later, Dylan's in Stefan's room with Stefan, Elena, and Katherine. Elena glares at Katherine and says, "What is she doing here?" Dylan says, "When we killed Elijah, it broke the compulsion and freed the bitch from the tomb." Stefan says, "How's that possible?" Katherine says, "He's an Original. They have all sorts of special skills." Elena says, "I don't want you here. Get her out of here." Katherine says, "You need me, Elena. You all do." Dylan says, "Like hell." Katherine says, "We all want the same thing. Klaus dead. Yet here you all are, running around like chickens with their heads cut off." Elena says, "I don't need your help and I don't want it." Katherine says, "And that's incredibly stupid of you. Do you know where Klaus is? When he's coming? What he looks like?" Dylan narrows her eyes at Katherine and says, "If you know something, say it or get out." Katherine says, "Fine, then I'll just go to the Grill and have some lunch. Maybe Aunt Jenna's free for a bite." Later, Dylan's down in the cellar trying to burn Elijah's body, but his body simply won't burn. Katherine walks in and says, "Mmm, burning flesh. If you're trying to get the dagger back you're wasting your time. He's indestructible." Dylan says, "No kidding. How do you know so much about Original vampires?" Katherine says, "Spent 500 years running from one." Dylan says, "So when I told you my plan to kill Elijah why didn't you warn me that I'd die if I used a dagger on him?" Katherine says, "Oh, there's so many rules. It's all very confusing." Dylan scoffs and says, "You knew I was going to die. Typical." Katherine says, "Did Elijah tell you his plan? Did he have a dagger to kill Klaus with?" Dylan says, "Why are you still here?" Katherine says, "Because you haven't forcibly removed me." Dylan points the flame thrower at Katherine and she scoffs, "You wouldn't." Dylan smirks and says, "You sure about that?" As Dylan moves towards Katherine, Katherine says, "Dylan, be smart. I want Klaus dead just as much as you do. More. If I wasn't being honest about helping I'd be long gone by now, okay? You can hate me... but we want the same thing. And you know... I always get what I want." Dylan puts down the flame thrower and as Katherine walks away, she says, "I wanted out of the tomb. Didn't matter who paid the price. Of course I knew that you'd die." Dylan rolls her eyes and walks out the room. Later, Dylan's in the living room sitting down on the couch reading more Johnathan Gilbert journal's. Katherine walks in and says, "What you up to?" Dylan says, "None of your business." Katherine says, "We're pouting now? Are those the Gilbert journals? How am I supposed to help if you won't tell me what you'e up to?" Dylan says, "Can you tell me where a bunch of witches were massacred in this town a couple centuries ago?" Katherine says, "No." Dylan says, "Then you can't help." Katherine sighs and sits down next to Dylan going grab a journal when Dylan slaps her hand away. Katherine slaps Dylan, when Dylan grabs her arm flipping her down on the couch with her hand around her throat. Katherine smiles up at Dylan liking the position their in as she says, "If it's any consolation... I'm glad that you're not dead." Dylan lets go of Katherine, getting off her with an annoyed sigh. Katherine chuckles as she stands up and says, "Emily Bennett told me about the massacre. It was a big deal in witch folklore. When a witch dies violently they release a mystical energy marking the place of their death with power." Dylan says, "Elijah wanted to know the site of the massacre." Katherine says, "What was he gonna do when he found it?" Dylan says, "I don't know." Dylan hears footsteps knowing their Stefan's, she says, "What did papa witch and baby witch have to say?" Stefan glares at Katherine and says, "Why isn't she, uh, gone or dead yet?" Katherine looks at Stefan and says, "For the last time, I'm here to help. Can we skip the secrets, hmm?" Stefan walks into the room as he says, "Elijah had no weapon to kill Klaus. But he believed that if a witch could channel enough power... they wouldn't need one." Dylan says, "Like the power you get from a spot marked with a 100 dead witches?" Stefan says, "Hmm. We just need to find it." Later, Dylan and Katherine are reading through the journals when Dylan senses something and she looks over at Katherine and Katherine looks at Dylan confused. Dylan shakes her head thinking it's nothing and she goes back to reading the journal. Dylan feels Katherine lean over her shoulder as she says, "Can I help you?" Katherine says, "I'm bored." Dylan sighs and says, "Why is that my problem?" Katherine rolls her eyes as she reads the journal Dylan's reading, "'Emily Bennett was taken by the council today. They kidnapped her from her home and took her to the same location her ancestors were burned a hundred years ago.' So Emily died on the site of the massacre too." Dylan says, "Mm-hmm." Katherine says, "Does it say where?" As Katherine grabs the journal, Dylan snatches it from her and says, "Nope. You know this whole friendly, cooperative thing?" Katherine says, "Mm-hmm." Dylan says, "I don't buy it." Katherine says, "I have no reason to like to you, Dylan." Dylan says, "Right." Katherine says, "I'm hungry." Dylan says, "You're the unwanted houseguest. Go feed yourself." Katherine walks away. Stefan walks in with a couple journals as he says, "Well, nothing in any of these. Find anything?" Dylan nods and says, "Nope." Dylan hands the journal over to Stefan as Stefan reads it and says, "That's too bad." Dylan says, "Yeah, bummer." Stefan walks away. Dylan hears Katherine yell, "Dylan!" Dylan speeds down into the basement and sees Katherine stabbed through the stomach. Katherine groans as she grabs the stake and removes it from her stomach. Dylan says, "What happened?" Katherine looks over at the dagger that's magically been removed as she says, "Dylan..." Dylan looks over and sees the dagger slowly coming out as she says, "Oh, fuck no." Dylan grabs the flame thrower and burns towards the body as Stefan walks in and says, "What are you doing?" Dylan says, "Some kind of crazy ass psychic witch attack! Get over there and do something about it! Go!" Later, Dylan walks into the living room with a blood bag for Katherine and hands it to her and says, "Here you go." As Katherine smiles and goes to drink it, Dylan stabs Katherine in the side as she groans. Katherine angrily says, "What the hell?" Dylan says, "That's for not telling me the dagger would kill me." Dylan twists the stake as Katherine groans. Dylan says, "Next time... it goes in your heart." Katherine grunts, "Is that how you treat someone who..." Katherine removes the stake out as she continues to say, "Is trying to help you?" Dylan says, "You wanna help? Start talking." Katherine says, "I'd love to, but you're not going to like it." Dylan crosses her arms and says, "Try me." Katherine stands up as she says, "Fine. John Gilbert and Isobel want you and Stefan out of Elena's life." Dylan says, "That's old news." Katherine says, "Not the part where he offered me a deal. He knew that killing Elijah would get me out of the tomb so he gave me a choice. Either I stay and help with Klaus or he kills Stefan." Dylan says, "But he still tried to have me killed." Katherine says, "Right. That was part of the deal. I could only save one of you." Dylan sighs and says, "So you chose Stefan. It's always gonna be Stefan." Katherine smiles and says, "Yep. You wanted the truth, Dylan. Would you rather I lie?" Dylan walks away. Later, Dylan's at the Gilbert Residence with Elena, because since Dr. Martin wanted to kill Elena to avenge Luka's death, Katherine pretended to be Elena. Elena sighs and says, "How did you guys convince her to do this?" Dylan says, "We didn't. It was actually her idea." Elena says, "Wow. That's not good." Dylan says, "No. No, that's not good at all. " Stefan walks down the stairs with Katherine as he says, "Everything's taken care of." Katherine takes off Elena's necklace as she says, "I'm guessing you're gonna want this back. But your pretty little outfit is gonna need a good dry clean." Elena walks up to Katherine and snatches the necklace from her as she says, "You're gonna have to get her out of here before Jenna gets home." Stefan nods. Katherine says, "Is that all you have to say to me?" Elena says, "This doesn't change the way I feel about you." Katherine says, "I don't much like you either, if we're gonna be open. And frankly, I'd be happy to see you dead but if we're gonna try to take on Klaus we kinda need you to be alive. So I'm not a threat to you, Elena. If any of you are going to believe anything, believe that." Later, Dylan's on her bed reading more Gilbert journals as Katherine walks in and jumps on the bed beside her. Dylan says, "You know what I can't figure out?" Katherine says, "What's that?" Dylan says, "How the town knew Emily Bennett was a witch. I mean, because according to Jonathan Gilbert he was the only one who knew. I know he didn't turn her in." Dylan looks at Katherine with a knowing look as she continues to say, "Not surprised." Katherine says, "She was a loose end. I like mine tied up. You know what I can't figure out?" Dylan looks down at the journal as she says, "I don't care." Katherine says, "Why you won't tell me where to find the site of the witch massacres?" Dylan says, "Because I have no clue." Katherine says, "You knew that Emily Bennett was the key to getting me out of that tomb. And something tells me that you did everything in your power to make sure that she was safe yet you have no idea where she was killed. Who's the liar now? You hurt me today." Dylan says, "Now you know how it feels." Katherine leans close to Dylan as she says, "You were mean. And very rough. And monstrous." Dylan looks up at Katherine and says, "You deserved it." Katherine smiles and says, "I like this Dylan." As Katherine goes to kiss Dylan, Dylan grabs Katherine's throat as she angrily says, "Did you really think you could seduce me? Nice try, Katherine. Get the fuck out my room, before I stab you again." Dylan pushes Katherine away as she continues to read the journals. Katherine frowns at Dylan as she scoffs and leaves the room.
