Connor x Wife!reader
NOTE: This was initially requested as a lemon one shot but reading over the snippets in the editing process, I chose to keep my dignity a little and leave out those steamy scenes I wrote. I'm all for keeping as much of my work on here as possible, but that was just horrendous so I'm saving you guys the horror as well. So, below this started (and now permanently unfinished) work, I've added the two remaining snippets I thought were reasonable enough to post.
Also I think this was requested by someone here but I don't remember the user, so my apologies to whoever that was. ;-;
Pressing the palm of your hand to your temple, you unlocked the door to your nice, warm home. Thank goodness, was your first thought because there was nowhere else you'd rather be. The unnecessary pressure, the unwanted stress added onto you that day was uncalled for. Returning to the comfort of your own home was the best part of your day, you decided that almost instantly as you dropped your bag and coat off at the door. A fatigued sigh slipped out from between your lips, a simple action gone unnoticed by your welcoming husband who had just rounded the corner to acknowledge your arrival. He gave you the most basic form of salutation and embraced you, kissing your lips tenderly. Constantly you wondered what you did to deserve someone so sweet and caring but you never came to a conclusion, the question was always left open. After you broke away he analysed your expression, his face fell as he saw you weren't in a good mood. It wasn't only that, he could see behind your eyes that something was wrong; he had to ask,
"(Y/N)? Are you alright? You looked distressed, is there anything I can do? Is something bothering you?" Your features didn't change, you didn't want to tell him of the strain you endured that day. So, you told a half-truth.
"Yeah I'm fine, Con'. It was just a long day, that's all. Too much work, stuffy office, faulty computer monitors, the usual." Connor showered over you a look of disapproval.
"You're hiding something from me." He tilted his head in the slightest. You sighed dramatically, you forgot the whole lie-detecting ability. He slowly mollified you, tangling his fingers through your hair.
"I'm fine Connor, can we just drop this?" You leaned into his hand, hoping the issue would just fade away completely.
"Your stress levels are high, I don't think you're fine. Tell me what's wrong, please." Damn, those puppy eyes he put on were always so irresistible and you couldn't deal with being so susceptible to surrendering. His pleading didn't help either, you became tense, your chest felt tight, you forced your breathing to deepen.
"I- I can't," your words almost cracked, tears beading in the corners of your eyes, blurring your vision. A hopeful beam of light sparked in his smile, seeping through your emotional crevices, keeping you away from breaking down.
"It's alright, how about I run a warm bath and we can discuss this over dinner?" He offered politely, like he was your butler not your husband. That behaviour was something you were welcome to get used to, though you knew it wouldn't last. His hand escaped the mess of your hair and his fingers went to lightly caress your jawline. He made you relax a little, feel safer. You couldn't muster a wisecrack so all that came out of your mouth was a defeated,
"Okay." Connor threw you another spirit lifting smile and dawdled off, out of sight.
You would never say you were ashamed of marrying an android, after all it was legalised a year or so subsequent to the peaceful android revolution. But those around you, -specifically your human co-workers- still had yet to accept your decision as a person. They hadn't found an answer as to why you made such a choice in the first place. Day in and day out, you wouldn't say you were bullied but you were certainly hassled over your way of life. You weren't deterred by it before, but the current day really pushed your mental limits. It played within your mind repeatedly since it happened, why would people act like that? You couldn't begin to comprehend their motives, it didn't make any sense. The memory played again, forcing you back into the recent past.
