Third Person POV
Taylor awoke witth a gasp, mildly disoriented. It was about a month post-eras-tour and she was falling back into old habits.

She peeked into the guest room where Travis lay and breathed a sigh. He was here. He was asleep.

She crept to her favourite room in her house: her music room. In here, she kept guitars of many shapes and designs on the walls and a grand piano in the middle of it all. On the walls, pictures of her, Jack, Lana, Ryan, Blake, xyou name it, the person was probably there.

She stood at the doorway for a minute, eyes flickering between the guitars and piano before deciding on the guitar.

Gently, she took a guitar from the wall. A guitar she hadn't touched in a month. She softly strummed a few basic chords on the infamous surprise song guitar before adjusting a capo onto the second fret.

She hummed a gentle melody to herself, not really sure of what was happening. A thousand words floated in her mind, she was lost in her thoughts and stuck in her own world.

Fustrated, she placed the guitar down. Nothing seemed to work. She needed-

"Looking for this?" She glanced up from her seat on the floor. At the doorway stood Travis, leaning against the door frame while holding her phone in one hand.

"Trav!" She exclaimed. She jumped up quickly, going to take the phone from him. "Thank you. Sorry for waking you."

He shook his head. "No problem. You didn't, by the way. Wake me up, I mean. I was gonna grab a snack and I overheard the guitar."

"Oh. Alright then." Taylor settled back onto the floor, typing on her phone like it was nobody's business.

Travis, deciding to leave Taylor to her own thoughts, quietly crept out, returning to the kitchen.

He sat at the kitchen island, listening to the soft melodies of the piano and the gentle strumming of the guitar.

In what felt like minutes, the sun began to rise. Taylor finally appeared from her cave, eyes shining the way they always did when she got excited.

"Look who decided to grace us with her presence." Travis jokingly said, patting the purring Benji on his lap.

Taylor rolled her eyes with a fond smile. "Why are you up?" She walked over to pour herself a cup of warm water.

"Listening to you play was more fun." He released Benji back onto the ground.

"You like it?" Taylor asked, taking a sip of her water. "I'm thinking of getting Sabrina on a song soon."

"Oh they'll love that." Ttavis chuckled.

A gentle silence fell over the room.

"Taylor?"

"Yeah?"

"Why were you awake?"

Taylor immediately quietened. She knew it was coming but it still wasn't something she wanted to talk about.

"If you don't wanna tell me, that's 100% okay. I just want to be sure that you're okay." Travis reassured her.

"It's alright. I was up because it's just kind of an old habit. I used to stay up late drinking. Like a lot." She bit the inside of her cheek.

Oh. He hadn't expected that. "Well, what do you want me to do in times where this happens?"

Taylor's eyebrows furrowed. "What?"

"Well, I mean, I'm up a lot of the time. So if I happen to be awake, would you prefer I give you space to be alone and write music, be with you, or any other alternatives?"

His words took Taylor by surprise, caught her off guard. No one ever bothered to check up on her. It was always what was most convenient for them.

"I guess it kind of depends. If I need you there I will tell you, if I prefer to be alone, I will tell you too. Is that okay?" Taylor asked.

Travis nodded with a smile. "Of course. You are fully in control of yourself, never forget that."

Taylor smiled, moving from her place behind the kitchen island to give Travis a hug.

"Thank you."

"'Course. I'll always take care of you."
