Peridot's POV:
"No, I can't like a person I just met?! That's absurd, Peridot!" I spoke to myself as I drove along the road. "You're probably just kidding yourself. That's all," I would say, trying to shake the thoughts of all the short moments we had spent together. Where we met, the concert, the restaurant, the bar. Sure, it was special, but I wouldn't consider myself in love just because of a few outings. I convinced myself as I took a turn towards my neighborhood. I pulled in front of my garage and parked. Climbed out of the car and typed in the password to my door, and it automatically swung open. I have a very technically advanced home, as some might say. Most of the things that are automatic are things I made with my bare hands. Others would describe my house as gigantic. But I don't like to brag about it. It's unnecessary.
I walked in, sat on the couch, and placed my hands on my head. My mind was traveling everywhere, yet I still didn't know what to think. I sighed and took a deep breath to calm myself down and continue with my life, which was already hard enough. But, would you know it, Amethyst surprised me from behind, scaring me with a loud "BOO!" Of course, I jumped and screamed like a little girl, hiding my face with my arms. In the background, I heard Amethyst frantically laughing. "Haha! I got you so good!" Amethyst continued as she teased me. Once I got my senses back, I sat in my normal position again, giving an angry mixed expression to Amethyst. This was one of the times I severely regretted giving her my access code for my front door. "What are you doing here, Amethyst?" I said, dusting myself off. "I came to tell you we will be performing this upcoming Wednesday again. "You in for a second round?" Amethyst said with a smug face. "Do I have a choice?" I said in a low, emotionless tone as I walked over to the fridge to grab a Monster drink.
"C'mon P-dot, we're not that bad," Amethyst would tease as she lay upside down on the rim of my black couch. I rolled my eyes, not exactly responding. I opened the fridge, only to see that most of the food I had bought was gone. "What the hell? Where's all my food?!" I exclaimed loudly, looking at Amethyst specifically. "Oh yeah, that's my bad, sorry man," she said as she gave a small burp in satisfaction. "I did put the money you'd need to buy more on the kitchen counter," she said, finger-gunning toward the money laying on the table. I sighed, taking the Monster drink out of the fridge, one of the few things left in there. I sat back down on the couch next to Amethyst, rubbing the rim of my nose and pinching my eyes shut. Amethyst noticed and got into a normal sitting position next to me.
"Yo, what's up? You're looking down?" she asked, looking genuinely concerned as she placed her hand on my shoulder. "It's nothing," I said as I opened the Monster drink and took a sip. "You can tell me anything, you know that, right?" Amethyst asked, turning her body completely towards me. Amethyst is most definitely the closest friend I have. I could share anything if I wanted to with her and never be judged. We're so different, but so the same at the same time. But this time, I decided not to share my feelings with Amethyst. Perhaps I needed to figure out my situation with Lapis first before spreading it to everyone. I sighed, trying to change the subject. "Can we play some games?" I asked in a polite tone, turning my head towards Amethyst with a sincere smile.
Amethyst didn't push the conversation further; she only gave me a smile in return before speaking. "I bet I could beat you this time," Amethyst stated as she stood up to grab two controllers from the charging station plugged in next to the big screen TV. "Game on," I said, challenging Amethyst back. I was the main person who liked video games in our band. But whenever I needed company, Amethyst would always be there to join in with me.
