Peridot's POV:
I shot up, wide awake, as I heard a window slam against the frame. Guess one was left open last night. I groaned as I smeared my hand over my face slowly, obviously very unimpressed by an early morning. As my eyes slowly adjusted to the bright light that shone through the window's reflection, I looked downward slightly towards my lap, and to my surprise, a blue-haired girl in deep sleep who rested her head on my lap cozily. My face heated up immediately, my whole body froze, and my spine shot up straight as I now felt Lapis' hot breath on my exposed skin. Sent chills down my spine. I sat there in silence for a few moments just to gather all my senses. I gently shifted out from under Lapis and placed an extra pillow that I found behind me on the floor under her head slowly. I gave a low sigh of relief as I decided to walk into the bathroom to clean up my appearance before the day would start.
As I walked out of the bathroom door, drying my face with a grayish towel that hung over the mirror pole, I looked out of the corner of my eye to see Lapis' mother, Miss Tiffany, coming out of her bedroom. Her hair was messy, much like how Lapis' hair usually looks when she just wakes up in the mornings. Suddenly, Tiffany looked over my way when she heard a floor creak coming from my direction as I tried to sneak back into the room. Her stare was almost like a death glare into my soul, and I didn't enjoy it at all. Which reminds me, am I just going to have to keep the secret between Lapis' father and her mother from Lapis? I can't do that! Not only am I bad at lying, but I'm lying to the person I'm in love with! But at what cost... I might never get to see Lapis again after I tell her. The way Lapis' mom announced that sounded like a promise to me.
Tiffany squinted her eyes towards me, then she jerked her head the other way to walk downstairs. I sighed; I didn't want to be in her presence any longer than I had to. I walked back into the room, only to see Lapis now fully curled up around a blanket, groaning lazily. She's awake. "Morning Lazuli," I said calmly as I put on my glasses and adjusted them on my nose bridge. "Peri?" Lapis asked softly, now only peeking her eyes out from under the blanket that held her body tight and warm. "It's time to get up; it's already half past 8 in the morning," I said as I picked up a few pillows that were on the floor from last night's childish pillow fight. "Do we have to?" Lapis asked as she slowly poked her head out of the curled-up blanket around herself. I took a good look at Lapis; she looked so innocent and comfortable. Cute... "Y-yes, I have read many articles on why it's better to wake up early in the morning, even though it's past early now," I said in a sarcastic tone as I threw one more pillow on the bed.
"Okay, okay, I'm up," Lapis said with a moan as the pillow I threw on the bed flew towards her. Lapis quickly jumped out of bed before the pillow could hit her, almost tripping on the blanket. Lapis gave a long yawn and stretched her limbs over her head. Her pajama shirt had lifted up slightly from Lapis' long body length, raising the shirt to right underneath her ribcage. Her body was so slim but well pronounced. I was staring so hard I might as well have been drooling from the view in front of me. "Peridot?" Lapis said softly with a raised eyebrow. I could see she knew I was looking at her, as she had little tints of red across her cheeks. "Uh, sorry. Let's head downstairs now," I said quickly enough to change the topic. I rushed out of the room trying to cover my blush because of the embarrassment. Lapis came walking out of the room with another yawn, not even caring to brush her hair. Guess she will do it after we had eaten breakfast.
As we got to the bottom of the stairs, I scanned the place once more. No one was seen, but I could definitely hear someone talking in the kitchen. I peeked around the corner of the kitchen, leaning over to see Tiffany talking to someone over the phone. It seemed like she was angry, speaking in an agitated tone. "Mom?" I heard someone say from above my head. It seems Lapis had the same idea; she had leaned over my head to hear who her mother was speaking to over the phone. Immediately after Lapis had called her mother, Tiffany's head jerked towards us. "IThis isn't over." she said quickly with a whisper shout, pressing the end call button. "Good morning, sweetheart. How was your night? Did you sleep well?" Lapis' mother said as she tucked a few hair strands behind Lapis' ear once Lapis had walked towards her. I, on the other hand, stayed put. I'm not risking getting that close to Tiffany again. "I slept well, but you really need to get another size bed for that room. Peridot and I were cramped up the whole night," Lapis said with a low sigh. "Who were you talking to? You seemed annoyed," Lapis spoke as she folded her arms across one another. "Oh, that was just your father. He was threatening to come over today. Oh, Lapis, I don't know what I'm going to do once you leave. Your father is keeping himself under control by staying away since you're here," Tiffany said with a dramatic sigh as she held her forehead with her palm.
