The next morning, I was woken up at the ass-crack of dawn by a sharp knock on my room's door.
"Nhgh- come in." I called sluggishly, rubbing at my eyes as I yawned and sat myself up.
"Y/N wake up." A deep, British voice boomed out, the door opening and none other than Ghost walking in, looking rather pissed off. "Captain Price is making me show you around and I expect you ready in two, understand?" He commanded, glaring down at me with those cold brown eyes.
I nodded my head slowly, furrowing my eyebrows but sliding out of my cot and then turning to pull the sheets back in place.
"Price? As in, the captain John Price?" I asked, a large amount of surprise in my tone for how exhausted I still was.
"Yes, the captain John Price." Ghost huffed back, narrowing his eyes behind his mask as he leaned back against the wall, his fists clenching slightly. "Put some bloody pants on, woman." He growled, finally looking away to give me some privacy. I was wearing some pajama shorts with cute little sheep on them that I quite liked and a large T-shirt.
"Well, you just barged in here right after I woke up, what did you expect?" I mumbled sleepily, shuffling over towards my the bag of clothes that had been scrounged up for me by König and a few of the other KorTac operators.
"I expected you to be awake before I even came down here. You are a trained Lieutenant of a different taskforce, you should know the schedule." He barked back, though he sounded less mad and more just annoyed.
"Sorry, yes sir." I dug through the duffle bag, finding some camo cargo pants and a regular black fitted T-shirt. I glanced back at Ghost, giving him a quick glare before turning my back to him to change.
Once done, I pulled on my boots and trotted my way up to Ghost, who was staring off out the door, probably trying to intimidate some poor subordinate into doing their job better.
"Done then?" He asked without even looking at me, still staring out the hall. I nodded and he gave out a soft grunt before pushing himself off the wall and opening the door, holding it for me as I slipped past him.
"Right then. You already know the med bay well I'm assuming." He started, quickly passing me but walking at a casual pace, his heavy bootsteps surprisingly quiet for how big he was. I simply nodded again, letting a soft hum vibrate against my lips as I glanced around, curious as to what he was glaring at earlier, but it was either gone or he was glaring at nothing.
He led me out of the med bay, silent as a mouse until we reached a big set of double doors I hadn't seen yet. We pushed past them, transitioning into a warmer looking hallway with soft orange lighting and maroon carpet. I glanced around, trying to look at anything and everything without losing Ghost.
We walked a bit more, passing a few operators who gave Ghost respectful nods and sent friendly waves my way, which I eagerly returned with wide smiles.
Ghost then paused, turning to my left and motioning to another door, this one with a big window in the top half.
"This is the break room for higher ranks. There's nothin' too fun in there, I'd say." He huffed unenthusiastically before crossing his arms again. I nodded my head, trying to peak through the window but failing as it was a weird frosted glass. We passed a few more doors, which he claimed were offices and restrooms specifically for the nurses and doctors from the med bay, and then he paused once more at another set of double doors.
"Common room, or the Rec room. Looks filled with more idiots playing poker." He mumbled the second part, more to himself, but I couldn't help the small smirk that played over my lips.
"You sound like you want to be in there playing with them." I commented, a hint of teasing in my tone, which he completely ignored.
"No. They're all bloody bad at it." He snorted quietly before turning again, once more not waiting for me to follow and expecting me to catch up. "There's a kitchenette in there and a coffee machine. If you can stand all the blubbering that is." He chuckled softly at himself, shaking his head before pointing to another door on our right. "Gym." Then, a door to our left, "supply closet." Another to the right, "weight room." I nodded my head quickly after each room was pointed out, my eyebrows quirking up slightly.
"Why are your gym and weight room separate?" I asked absentmindedly, not really expecting an answer but asking anyways.
"Dunno. Why are you asking as if I built this bloody place?" He countered, glaring back at me over his shoulder. I simply shrugged, looking away and then down the hall as we continued to walk.
We walked past lots of offices, the showers, locker rooms, a cafeteria, and the doors to an adjacent building before Ghost paused again and turned to face me. He leaned down, getting to my eye level with his palms planted on his bent knees.
"You are right annoying." Was what he had to say, his dark eyes staring into mine for a moment before he stood back up as if nothing happened. I snorted quietly, my eyebrows furrowing as I sped after him.
"What do you mean, I'm annoying?" I asked with a hint of my own annoyance clear in my tone as I followed him up a flight of stairs.
"I mean, you're so.. quiet." He mumbled, keeping his back facing me as he walked. "I mean, the others are always so loud, I've learned to tune them out. But you are just silent and it's confusing me." He finished, pointing off to another door and saying a quick, "armory," before going quiet again.
"Why is quiet a bad thing?" I asked, now even more confused than before. I glanced over to the door but I was more concerned with Ghost.
"I dunno." He shrugged his big shoulders, not bothering to look back this time and instead just going silent once more.
I let out a huff of quiet air, furrowing my eyebrows further at him before shaking my head to relax my expression. There was a long stretch of silence between us, an air of annoyance rather than uncomfortableness hanging as we continued down the hallway. There were a lot less people on this floor, making it a lot more eerie and silent that the first floor.
We made it to a intersection and Ghost walked into the center of it before pausing.
"Left is Captain price's office, as well as mine and some of the KorTac generals. Middle is KorTac barracks, and right is 141." He explained in his usual, bored tone before looking back to me, his hands still folded over his chest like I giant toddler throwing a tantrum. "Got it?" He asked, tilting his head slightly and narrowing his eyes at me again.
"Yeah, got it." I nodded once more, and he nodded back in response before lifting one arm in a 'go away' motion before he turned down the left hallway, presumably towards either Price's or his own office.
I hesitated though, suddenly realizing I was left alone to make my way back to the med bay, in a measurably weakened state. I swallowed down a bit of spit before turning on my heel, furrowing my eyebrows to prepare myself.
You've got this. I told myself, though it didn't quite feel that way.
