//Guys okay so I'm really sorry about how long this update has taken. I've had a lot of stuff happen recently that's been crazy unfortunate😨 so I apologize for the short, super late update.//
The next morning I woke up late. So late, in fact, that a nurse gently knocked on my door and brought me some afternoon tea. A tradition, she said, to help me feel better. Or whatever. So I drank it with the nurse, who's name I learned was Chanel, and we talked casually over my healing and my explorations of the base. I explained, while skipping some details, that I had been outside with König, had dinner with the three men, and Ghost had showed me the ground floor of the base. She nodded her head quietly before speaking up, setting her tea cup down on my bedside table.
"That Ghost, how is he? He never comes into the infirmary. I worry about him," she sighed gently, looking down at me from her place beside my bed. Even while I was sitting up, she was a tall woman.
"Oh, I don't know. He seems alright so far," I shrugged, tilting my head to rest against my shoulder slightly. "Nothing like the rumors I've heard but still not super nice," I added with my own sigh, taking another sip from my cup as I righted myself. It was warm still, and we had been talking for a good couple of minutes, the soothing liquid sliding down my throat and somehow or another resolving any aches I had.
"Well, next time you see him, tell him to come visit me. You are friends, right?"
"I don't know if I'd really say friends exactly, but I can try to talk to him, sure," I nodded, closing my eyes for a moment as I took a breath of the steamy air raising from my cup. "This is really good," I hummed after a moment, opening my eyes again to send Chanel a smile.
Before she had the chance to, presumably, thank me, there was a rough knock on the door, which then swung open without hesitation. Ghost strutted in, hands on his hips and eyes cold as ever.
"Chanel," he nodded to my new nurse friend before stepping past her, getting right up against the edge of my bed and towering over me. "Vixen. Soap's free now," he rumbled, his eyebrows furrowed slightly under his mask. His arm flexed, like he wanted to reach out, before his eyes narrowed.
"Tea? It's 2pm," he paused, his eyes moving from my cup to my body, which was only wearing pajamas with the blanket of my cot draped over my lap. "Why aren't you dressed?" He asked, but again, without hesitation shook his head and spoke again. "Whatever. Get dressed and let's go," his voice was quieter again, and he turned away to walk back over to the door.
With a grunt I hopped up, setting my tea aside. I knew better than to disobey this big guy with biceps as big around as my torso, and so Chanel left with a wave to leave me to get dressed.
10 minutes later I hobbled out of the door to my room, pulling my boot on and trying to tie it while walking.
"You look ridiculous," Ghost's rough voice grumbled from beside me, his eyes burning into me from his spot where he was leaning against the wall. "And it took you 10 minutes to get ready. That's 8 minutes too long," he snorted, glancing down at the watch on his wrist before simply grabbing me by the shoulder and pulling me out of the med bay.
He practically dragged me down the hall, past all the rooms he had showed me my first day here, and into the gym. He shouldered open the door, letting out a grunt as he pulled me through it. I simply followed, not that I had a choice of course. His grip was tight as hell on my shoulder.
Soap, the ever excitable, it seemed, was already running up towards us with a grin on his face. He looked.. mildly cute, in a "that's a grown man," kind of way.
