I paced the hospital waiting room, the anxiety growing inside me. How did this happen?! Who would do something like this?! I could think of 2 people. Zach and Brooke. Maybe Brooke was aiming for me instead but missed? And well Zach wasnt dealing with our breakup very well... Just then, a doctor walked briskly over to me. "I have some news on Mr Baker", she said matter-of-factly. I fell onto a seat and nodded for her to continue. "He was shot in the lower abdomen and is being opperated on as we speak. The bullet will be removed but he should heal up nicely". I sighed with relief. Just then the doors burst open and a very flustered Vanessa walked in. My parents and Tyler followed with Luke's dad trailing behind. My mom and dad sat down at either side of me

and I rubbed the bridge of my nose.

A few hours later I was the only one left. Everyone else had left for work and Tyler was at hockey practice. The doctor from earlier approached me. "He's awake if you wish to see him". I followed her along the now almost emty corridors until we got to his room. She opened the door and then walked off to see other patients. "Hi", said Luke weakly. "Hi", I breathed.

I went and sat in the chair next to his bed and took his hand. "Are you feeling better?".

"Yeah, I guess".

"Good".

"Yeah it is...".

"I called your mom at work. She knows you're awake and will be back later".

"Okay, cool. Listen I still want to talk to you".

"Right... Just dont get shot this time".

"I'll try", he chuckled. The door cracked open and Luke's doctor popped her head round the door. She said that Luke needed to rest and asked me to go. I actually felt really tired too so I decided to go back to Luke's and sleep. My parents were going back to stay with my aunt the following day so we hadnt moved back home yet.
