Chapter 15.

The following day at school, I felt lonely without Luke. Whenever teachers made comments that could be made rude, Id look over to his chair with my usual mischevious look on my face and frown when I saw the empty desk. 3rd period English was going so slowly... I was almost completely tuned out when the door opened. I glanced over to see someone I was not expecting to see... Like ever... My ex boyfriend and first love, Hayden Gray. "Hayden!", Miss Carlyle gasped, "Its great to have you back! Everyone, look! Hayden is back!". He grinned at her and smiled at his peers. A few of his old friends started chanting his name and laughing. "Good to see you, man", Zach smiled and fist-bumped his old best friend. There were only 2 empty desks in the class I noticed. 1 being Luke's and the other was just a spare at it was right next to me. I groaned inwardly as he sat down. I didnt dare look up. When Miss Carlyle started the lesson again I lifted my head and kept my eyes fixed on her. I tried my best to concentrate but I couldnt help fidgeting and moving around in my seat as I felt someones eyes on me. I didnt have to look around to know who was watching me. When the bell rang, I practically ran from the room. I walked briskly to my locker once I was in the safety of the hallway. I opened my locker and swapped my english textbooks for my PE kit. "Lauryn", someone called from down the hall. I turned around and saw Hayden jogging over to me. "Hey", he smiled sheepishly. I gasped when I saw how beautiful he really was. His eyes a beautiful blue and his gorgeous sandy hair... "Ive really missed you", he admitted.

"Ive missed you to, Hayden... But I dont get it. Why are you back?".

"Umm I asked to come back... I need you, Lauryn".

"What?! You came back for... For me?".

"You sound surprised".

"Well yes, I am! You never called or visited since you left and now you show up here and tell me you need me without word of warning?".

"I know and Im sorry but I... I couldnt visit because I knew I would have to leave you again. Saying goodbye once was bad enough... I couldnt do it again".

"I cant do this right now... Im going to see Luke, Im sure you heard?".

"Yeah... I'll visit him after school".

"Well Im leaving now", I said before spinning on my heel and walking out of school. I had planned to stay all day and see Luke later but I couldnt face Hayden any longer. I drove back to get changed and grab something to eat before going to the hospital. "Hey Luke", I sighed as I walked into his room. His cheeks were pinker and he was no longer on a drip. He sat up alot easier too, when I came in. "Can I finally tell you what Ive been trying to for days?".

"Weird hello, Luke... But okay... Oooo first Ive got things to tell you".

"Okay...".

"Well... Hayden is back and says "he needs me" or whatever and well I pretty much told him where to stick it and... Uhhh Zach and I are back together", I said practically all in one breath, sitting down next to him. He stared at me intently with a look on his face which I couldnt quite decipher. "Please say something... I mean hey, didnt you have something

to tell me?", I asked after a while.

"Its nothing... I think I should rest, its been a long day", he said after another long while.

"Oh... Well um... Hayden's coming to visit you later... I guess I'll go then", I frowned. I stood up and walked out to my car without looking back.
