CHAPTER 45.

"Lorenzo? that is your last resort River. What makes you think he will come and save your fucking ass. After all, you did turn your back on him when he needed you the most no?"

Oblivious to who or what the man was talking about, I seek out River's eyes, they drifted to that of guilt and sadness as he stared up at me from the ground.

'I'm sorry I didn't explain everything to you if anything happens remember that I love you...always.' He mouthed and then gave me the most heartbreaking smile I'd ever gotten from him.

Tears poured from my eyes since his confession. "Take your fucking hands from off me you asshole." I hissed as the man began to drift the tip of his finger down my spine.

"I was beginning to think you were a dumb bitch but oh well she speaks..." Mr. asshole chuckled and then shoved me to the side to one of his men.

His minion caught me and grinned down at me, I shoved my elbow into the side of his ribs harshly which only had him putting a hand around my waist and begin to squeeze the life out of me.

In spite of the pain running in my joints, I made sure that I took in everything about them, noticing that they all had something in common and it wasn't about their dashing fucking black suits, thank God for River's lamp lights because I wouldn't have spotted it out.

I committed that fact to memory for later use and hissed as the leader's minion grab one of my hand and bend it around my back. I grunted and watched in dread as the leader of the other three men, walked over towards River who all but watched me in the process. A harsh unfamiliar glare overtook his face as he saw me struggle in pain.

"Please, I'll do anything just...leave him alone!" I screamed as the tears continued to flow like a stream among the skin of my cheek, my lips sting from the saltiness of my sorrow as I watched the tall pale skin brute stood above the love of my life, the gun mocking me as he held it to his side.

"Boss, I think she has a point." The minion taunted behind me in a low chuckle while the others reacted the same.

The tone of their mockery pulled goosebumps across my skin, I assessed the situation. Four against one?

For River's sake it was worth the try. I looked over towards River holding his eyes through my blurry tears but he only warned me with narrowed eyes, as if he knew what I had planned.

The leader tilt his head over to me, light blue cold eyes dancing in cruelty. "I agree."

He then turn his body into my direction and took steps to where I was standing, even throughout all of this I tried to hold my composure, not breaking his eye contact.

A sign to show him that I wasn't afraid of whatever the heck he had up his sleeve.

I flinched as he had the audacity to tilt my head up by the chin, his thumb brushing across my wet stained cheeks as the tears continued to flow endlessly.

"Artem she has nothing to do with this ju-just leave her alone." River yelled out and my heart shattered from the pain in his voice.

The asshole only smirk down at me. "Ahh, the power of love even in naivety."

"Artem!"

Artem ignored River and showed me his perfectly white teeth, he licked his lips and I didn't missed the black barbell ring on the tip of his tongue.

Forcefully shifting my head out of his palm from the disgust I felt from his overwhelming presence, my disgust was only proven for a short time seeing that he squeezed my jawline, cupping it in a tight hold, making perfectly sure that I held his cold eyes while laying out his intentions.

The intentions that carried the words that would change my future forever.

A forever that brought forth an unforeseen matter that would only left me to drown.

I jumped up out of the sudden sleep. I pulled the front of my black body stocking forward as the sweat from my body soaked me. Salt whimpered in fright from my sudden body movements and came into my lap for comfort.

I run my fingers through his hair and sighed as my heart calmed down.

This was honestly the second time I've had this dream, but this time it was vivid as shit. The words of Artem's were evident more clearly.

He was right, I was so in love that my naivety blinded me about Nava.

Why did he sent me on a mission that he know would harm me?

I was too blinded by revenge to pause, think and observe about the underlining situation.

Thinking about it, I was really stupid.

I remembered a year ago when River shouted on that night that Lorenzo would come and save him just before they pulled the trigger in his throat. Blowing his throat out and his stomach.

I held my face, shaking in sobs as the memory played back. I should have known that Lorenzo wasn't the bloody enemy and I allowed that fool to use me for his selfish reason.

Deciding that I needed some water to calmed my damn self down, I left the room and took the steps down to the kitchen.

We left the safe house a few hours earlier because of the intruders and as such was taken to another safe house, hidden behind deep forest trees and nature.

As I climbed the steps down, I paused as I heard the voice of Lorenzo.

"I told you not to fucking call me didn't I?"

Knowing that he could detect someone's presence, I walked through the living room.

The man was shirtless, with black shorts hanging low on his waist. His hair was longer as it touch his shoulders along with the thick beard that dusted around his squared jawline.

That scar of his had me clenching my fingers as I felt the need to feel it against my skin but I held back.

The Don was still ignoring me and honestly, I didn't know how to feel...

I walked passed him and absolutely didn't missed how his large shoulder's stiffen as I took steps by him.

Flicking the small kitchen lights on, I turn towards the fridge, bend at the waist and took out a bottle water.

My hands shook as I pop off the cap and as I took a small sips, I found myself falling to the floor and knock out in unconsciousness.
