CHAPTER 46.

A dark set of green forest eyes stared at me from a photo I woke up to a few minutes ago. It greeted me with familiarity and I closed my eyes, feeling a bit of hatred replacing the love I had for him.

I felt sick and tired of it. I needed to stop holding unto him because he was beginning to ruin the very future that I wanted to build.

"River Caruso Greco, the CEO of this hospital. He owns several others but his main headquarters started back in Italy six years ago just at the age of nineteen."

I slid my eyes over to Rafael and asked. "What the hell happen?"

Seems as if I've been asking that quiet a lot lately.

He shook his head and narrowed his eyes. "You fainted because you are under stress. You need to calm down Red, I can't have you dying. Not now."

I smiled softly and shuffled off the hospital bed and gave him a hug. "You saved me again?"

"Of course, I am your knight in a shining armor but I won't take all the credit Red, Lorenzo was the one who rush into the kitchen and demanded my ass to bring you here. He left about thirty minutes ago."

I frown as everything came back to me once again and I sighed. He saved me?

I thought he was still ignoring me...

A thought came to mind instantly that has been bothering me since that night in Italy from Fire's anger and I narrowed my eyes at him and asked. "Who is RG?"

Rafael grinned. "I knew you would asked...RG is...."

I quirk a brow and then he uttered the words. "River Caruso Greco who is Lorenzo's cousin."

Cousin? what the triple fuckity!!!

"Cousin? Bu-but why Nava used me to do this investigation against River's cousin? Shit and I-I thought you worked for him."

I tried to wrapped my mind around everything as I stared straight at the man.

River was Lorenzo's cousin omg...

Rafael shook his head. "No, I don't work for Nava. The main reason why I took a role as the station's CSI is because Lorenzo suspected Nava's unloyalty to the family. Why Nava used you? well based on my observation, Nava suspected that I was working with Lorenzo because we knew he wasn't playing his part as an associate to the family."

"You remember the day when you came to the station because he called you in and I told you that I was busy doing a crime robbery?"

I nodded.

"Nava knew that Artem killed Lorenzo's drug dealer so I went to the office to snuff out information on him about it but he was tight lipped. He knew how much you wanted revenge and as such used you as his little spy to gather intel for both him and Artem about Lorenzo's every move and classified information about his organization so that they can do what enemies always do and that is to bring him down."

My eyes widen at the reveal. I knew that Nava used me but hearing it out loud, I gritted my teeth.

"Who were those men that attack Papi Zest earlier?" I stared at him, still in shock at the news that the man who I thought all along was my ex fiance's killer, turns out that all along he was his cousin.

Rafael grimace then lick his lips. "Apparently, Lorenzo and us, his inner circle were at his club last night. Nava was there, he got pretty drunk which got him talking. Lorenzo though didn't hear his slipped because he was taking a call."

"And I was the only one there, I used his weakness to ask him a few questions and he mentioned that he was planning on meeting someone for something and then used Lorenzo men to kill that person because he didn't trust her which pretty much let me know that it was you."

I scoffed at that. He didn't trust me. That's really funny coming from a man such as himself.

This wasn't about River and here I thought I was doing justice.

It was too much.

Artem Pesci was right, he did show me what he meant when he spoke those words to me that night.

It was comical actually and without knowing it, I felt a laugh flowing from deep within me. I laughed so hard that tears fell from my eyes.

Rafael stared at me weirdly but he couldn't understand. I was so tired of crying from the intensity of the situation and to be honest I felt the weight on my shoulders lifting.

When I was finish, I breathe from the airy laugh. "I need to tell Lorenzo."

I thought it was fair that I came clean about everything, including the fact that I was the little bella he was looking for that spied on him more than once.

The earlier he knows. The better.

Rafael sighed and quirked his eyebrows. "Are you sure? Lorenzo does not like betrayal, Red. Have you not remembered what he did to Rocco?"

I shivered as I remembered about the short man who got eaten up by the sharks.

Shaking my head to forget the memory, I sighed. "Yes, I need to tell him the truth about everything."

"Tell who?"

Fire bust his way into the room as with balloons in his hand. "You're so inquisitive."

"Bite me." He mocked.

And I rolled my eyes. "Eww.."

"I know things have been hectic as of late, do you want us to hang out. I heard that New York has some sexy nice clubs!"

Viviana wiggled her eyebrows as she and Sveva strolled into my room with dresses and heels.

I still felt a bit tired about everything but I needed to get frassed out, even if it's just for one night, to forget about my current life situation.

"Of course! can I invite someone?"

Sveva grinned. "Absolutely as long as she can hold her liquor."

"Bitch, she can chugged more than a whole bottle don't play with my girl like that but she's pregnant so she can't rock like that tonight."

Both women chuckled and in curiosity I asked. "Who is going to watched the kids though?"

"Oh Lorenzo volunteered to do so."

Stunned at that, a small smile came to my lips at his try at effort with Xam. I nodded and then head to the bathroom to begin with a long relaxing cold shower.

With a towel wrapped around my body, I brushed my teeth to lighten the heaviness I felt and then chatted to the girls as I picked out my clothes for the evening.

I decided to let loose for the night and tried something that I never did before. Make up.

Allowing Viviana to take the lead, she did my face in heavy makeup including dark smokey eyes and applied around my lips with a combination of lipliner and lip gloss.

A black bandage off the shoulder see through midi dress grip around my body and stop above my knees, it showed a lot of skin from my knees up to my chest area.

Normally I would care, but for tonight I decided that I just needed to forget.

With some black fishnet ankle pumps to complete the look, I carried a mini black leather bag which had my phone, ID and some cash.

And with a little bit of alcohol in our system seeing that we took a toast before we left, I sent a text to confirmed Rosa's coming.

After a few minutes, we all settled into the car and then drove off to the club that Rosa told us to meet her.
