Left alone to eat, I swallowed down the last spoon of soft mash sweet potatoes and couldn't help the emit of gas that flew out of my mouth in a belch. My stomach was full as is and I scrunch up my face at the half glass red wine that mocked my obvious struggle to finish the remaining content.

I got to give Fire his props, he was a damn good cook....

A good looking one at that.

And like always you have to spoil everything.

Shut up bitch!

Blowing out a huff, I wash the dirty dishes and turn them down to dry, my mind taking a turn towards Lorenzo who clearly have a poor conduct of social courtesy.

Why do all of the handsome looking men carry around the baggage of a nasty attitude. We get it, y'all are pretty damn fuckable.

I rolled my eyes as a grin curl to the side of my lips as thoughts of how River and I met, came to mind. Believe me he was the very definition of ungracious.

"Hombre, qué carajo, mira por dónde vas." (Man, what the fuck, watch where you're going.) I hissed up at the green eyed suited man who knock the slightly cracked phone out of my hands, I mean come on the sun was already boiling hot and I was dead ass hungry.

Ever hear the saying, a hungry man is an angry man, well that is me at the moment and this bitch was not making this any easier.

"Maybe if you would have turn that goddamn voice down when talking on your fucking phone then I'd get out of your way, I'm sure we as passersby aren't interested in your fucking sob story now get a damn life." He boredly replied as he passed me a glare, check his vibrating phone then have the nerve to leave.

Who the heck is this guy? He got some nerve talking to a motherfucker like that.

"Hey coño!" (pussy) I called out to him. He paused and looked over his shoulder.

"Take this." I drew my hand back and send a flying fist into his right eye.

I bend my knee and shove it into his balls which had him bending over in a series of groan.

"Don't make the same mistake twice motherfucker." I hissed and rolled my eyes as he peek at me through the fingers that cover his right eye. I left him there, smirking as he continue to groan.

Serve you right...

A soft chuckled left me as the thought came to an end, he was pretty persistent after that mishap and at first it was a bit irritating but then I somehow thought that his pestering was a bit cute so I gave into the curiosity and gave him my number.

Which was not before I threw a drink into his face.

The look on his face when I did that was damning priceless. River proved me wrong in the most caring possible way that eventually I believed in the saying that in every bad person there is some good in them and within every good person there resides some bad, he made me see that judging was absolutely wrong.

Therefore, why was the thought of judging that bastard Don was now at it's peak?

Because you don't understand him.

Little miss subconscious said as she tilt her head and continued to suck on a lollipop.

"Aurora, looks like Don man need you right now as we speak." Fire came back into the kitchen with a toothpick at the side of his lips as he place both hands behind his neck, his bulging tatted biceps popping out.

Blowing out a sigh, my teeth grinded at the idea that I would have to face this son of a bitch soon. A mean what did I expect? he was a notorious Don after all so to make my self feel a bit better I conclude it all up that maybe he was a having a bad day and that I should understand that a man his type was made to be cold and standoff.

See you go again with the judging...

"Lead the way.." I said to a grinning Fire while pocketing my jeans.

Fire led me out to the same lawn where I left Salt playing earlier, I look around for my baby and saw him running around the green neatly cut grass with the rest of puppies.

We went around the corner of the mansion which led us to the further backyard. I spotted a large zero entry pool which gave off like a beach-like kinda vybe.

I couldn't help but notice the Don who was sitting underneath a pergola, with his laptop laying on his lap as he took a call while making sure that he kept his unwavering stare on the small toddler who was currently playing at the entry of the pool, her continuous squeals were filled with excitement and it curve a soft smile on my lips.

"Rafael called just seconds ago and told me that he found forensic evidence on the dead body, go and gather the rest of information and meet me at the club tonight so that we can discuss our next move." His intense uneven tone of voice slid into the conversation he was having on the phone.

Curiosity gripped me as I commence session one of the investigation, I digest his words and told myself that I needed to get to that club wherever that club is so that I can gather enough intel.

Noticing our presence, he hang up the call and without looking at us he place a cigar to the corner of his lip and flick out the lighter from behind his ear. He lit the bud and then took a deep inhale and said.

"That will be all Fire."

My fingers twitch at his voice, the deep cut on his face rubbed me in a way that I was struggling to come to terms with.

Why did I even care, to be honest it's just a damn scar.

I stood there for some time, shifting from one foot to another as the sole of my feet began to ache due to the reason that I was in heels.

"You're just gonna stand there like some fucking fool or are you going to sit." His voice deepens in a harden tone and irritated me for a quick second.

Wait...was this man tripping. A cyah me him a talk to.

"First of all, I'm not like one of your fucking pussy that you fuck on a daily basis, do not take that tone with me."

The words flew past my lips before I could even weigh them and I honestly thought he would shoot me in the bloody face for my bluntness but the man simply stop typing on his laptop, pierce me with a set of dark eyes which without consent, force it's way into my own with an intensity that left me feeling strange.
