Some weeks after our packed premiere and finally meeting Darren, tragedy has struck the show. Both Bree ( I am thankful that she's not around to torment me) and our Understudy for Catia have fallen ill. There's forty-five minutes before the show is due to begin. Backstage is crazy, everyone is arguing, Carmichael is panicking, and others are pitching ideas on what can be done.
"Never in all of my years on Broadway has this occurred! The instance where both my lead and my Understudy are both strickening with vomiting!" Carmichael is exasperated.
Britt then asks, "What's going to be done, Dad?"
Carmichael sighs, "I guess the show has to be cancelled."
There's a wave of gasps from the company and then there's a moment of ceiling.
Darren steps up and exclaims, "What happened to the show must go on, Carmichael?!"
Carmichael then yells, "Then what do you suggest we do, Darren? You don't expect that me to send you out there in drag, do you! We don't have any other stand-by!"
Darren looks around the room, pondering. Then his gaze falls to me. I am so confused. Darren whispers something to Carmichael, who nods. Darren breaks up the crowd and walks over me. He smiles at me and gives me his hand. Darren takes me to Carmichael. Carmichael then begins inspecting me from head to toe. For the first time (That I've seen about the show), Carmichael smiles. He mouths the word "perfect".
He announces, " I've found our Catia!"
The company is no longer arguing. Thankfully. Now gossiping fills the backstage.
So much is going through my mind right now.
Thoughts Going Through My Mind:
What the heck just happened?
What has Darren done?
Why'd he do it?
Is this going to change my life?
"Darren, why did you do that?" I ask feeling sweat beading my forehead.
He smiles and answers, "Quinn Estell, you are talented! Never forget that! I want your Broadway dream to true! Plus I know that you know every line and lyric of this musical! I have faith in you."
Leah grabs my arm and drags me to Bree's dressing room, "Come on! You have thirty minutes to get your make-up on!"
I quickly do my make-up, hair, and get into my first costume. At least Bree and I wear the same size. I am then pushed onto the stage. Even though I am dying of nerve wracking stage fright, I begin the musical with the aura of passion and strength. Before I can pinch myself awake from this dream, I realize the musical has already begun.

End of Act One
I start hyperventilating back stage. Sweat begins to brim my forehead. I quickly change into this Flamenco gown in red and black. Leah fans me.
"Oh God! I'm going to puke!" I breath haggard breaths. " I can't do this, Leah!"
Then a hand slaps me across the face.
"Snap out of it, Quinn! Be brave! I am seeing a Bree right now! Be strong and you're doing amazing! Have a little faith! I have since I met you! You can do this!"
"I can do this." I chant. " I am strong."
Then I am back on stage with the lights blinding me. About to kiss Darren...So nervous!

The Kiss of Dreams:
After one of the more romantic numbers called "Could I Really Love Someone Like You?", Darren and my character are supposed to kiss. When I knew the moment drew knew my brain was praying that he was a good kisser. At the exact moment, Darren and I lean closer to each other. Before I can pull away, I am locking lips with Darren. No, this is not the moment where I began this story. I feel an instantaneous spark. Both sets of eyes ( meaning Darren's and mine) are closed as if they're dreaming. I truly thought this was a dream...I mean in what other world, except my fantasy, would I be kissing Darren Criss.
When we break apart, the crowd roars of claps and screams of approval. Jonathan and Catia, Darren's and my character , must pretend to have an awkward exchange of looks, movements, and script. In reality, I am truly baffled and cannot speak as Catia can't in this scene.

End of Act 2
When the cast bows, I realize that my dream of singing on Broadway has truly come alive. I begin crying tears of joy. I squeeze Darren's hand tightly as we take our bows. I gaze at him when that concludes and he grins.
We run along stage left, and I begin giggling in excitement.
"Oh my God, Quinn! You were awesome! I knew I'd put my faith into the right person!" Darren exclaims as he begins to twirl me in a circle and then my arms around his neck. We then have our awkward moment of backing away from each other. I say nothing because I am too gleeful to speak.
Then Darren offers, "How about I take you to dinner tomorrow to celebrate, Q?"
I then discover my voice, "Isn't there a performance tomorrow, Darren?"
He shakes his head "no".
I then ask, " You haven't told me when or where I should meet you.."
Darren smiles, "Do you have a phone?"
I nod.
"How about we go change and meet right here, A OK, Quinn?"
We wave and I go back to the dressing room to change back into my white blouse, blue jeans, and ankle boots. The two of us meet in the exact spot as planned. Darren quickly unlocks my phone and punches in his number. Sure to put it within my contacts and make his name bold as well as the most obvious of all my contacts.
"Text me when you get home, Broadway Superstar!" Darren turns to leave. I walk the opposite direction towards the stage. One last desperately needed to be sung. I must end the night in song and lyric, as the day began. My dream of being on a Broadway stage, acting needed to be even more cherished. I knew exactly which song I'd sing.
