When the curtain falls on our last performance, tears prick my eyes. For now, all that had been for a year, is now coming to close.
The curtains do shoot up once more, the cast must bow. Darren and I jog together, hand in hand. Everyone screams wildly for the two of us. Note, we haven't told anyone except our families as well as Carmichael and Leah about the relationship.
After we all take our bows, the cast and ensemble cluster together. For our last performance on Broadway, I've orchestrated a music number. With the help of Darren, we'd put together a version of "So Long, Farewell". One person would come out to sing their part and when that ends, two or three ensemble members exit with them.
Darren and myself go to the sides. We also had our own song to sing after the cast made their leave.
Introduction- Cast Ensemble
First (we'll call it a " so long" verse) sung by- Angela Lansberry
Second "so long" verse- Estipona Ramirez
Third "so long" verse- Robin de Jesus
Fourth "so long" verse- Kara Lindsey
Fifth and last "so long" verse- Britt

They all exit, while the curtain closes, except Darren and me. We're right in-front of it. Darren has his guitar and two stools. A microphone on a stand is before him.
"Good evening everyone, I'm Quinn Estell," I speak into my mic.
Darren then says, "Hello, that was my girlfriend, Quinn, and I'm Darren, but you probably already knew that."
Crowd cheers.
"Since tonight is the last performance for Soul Sister, we'd like to dedicate a song Darren and I wrote to all of you who joined us tonight."
Darren adds, "It is called " Last Broadway Duet"."
"Hope you'll enjoy it!"
Darren strums his guitar and signals for me to sing the first verses before the chorus. We've come up with a system when we sing duets. I will sing the first few verses before the chorus, we'll sing the chorus together, and Darren the second set of verses.
The lyrics I won't divulge because those that heard are the only ones who will hear it. Sorry! Darren and I might start a band and you'll hear some awesome songs. The audience gives us a standing ovation, everyone slowly rises to their feet.
Darren takes charge and dip kisses me in front of the audience. There are "whoops" and gasps of shock.
Then Darren tells the microphone, "We're dating! And it has been happening for a year!"
We run to backstage. We are met with hugs and high-fives. I break away to go see Leah. She waits within my dressing room.
Leah sat crying at the vanity. I come up behind her with open arms.
She stands to hug me, "I knew you were going to make it, Quinn...I had faith and now....What has been a year of getting to know you...Has become me gaining a best friend."
I am crying now, "Leah, thank you for everything you've done for me this year...Darren got me in stage, but you're the reason why I'm here in the first place...I've discovered a best friend in you, too...Also you brought Darren and me together...I must thank you for that...You missed him dip kissing me and the announcement of us dating...Which I think is a little late now."
We break apart, "I told when you told me he was your celebrity crush that I saw you two together, now you are."
"I'm going to miss you, Leah."
Leah then asks, "Do you have my cell number?"
I nod.
"Call me up for coffee sometime, Quinn," Leah says.
We hug again. Then I change back into regular clothing and when I'm dressed, there's a knock at the door.
I open it, revealing Carmichael.
"Excuse me, Estell...Do you mind letting me in?" he asks.
I answer, "Not all! Come on in!"
Carmichael walks in and hands me small bouquet of red roses.
"You made my vision, Estell! I can't believe I didn't consider you for Catia in the first place! You were extraordinary at your audition just to let you know! I should've listened to Leah's protests," I says in a serious manner and laughs at the last sentance.
I tell him, "The past doesn't matter, Carmichael...You made me your Catia in the end...Which is more than I could've asked."
I go up and hug Carmichael and he doesn't finch, but accepts it.
"You are lucky to have met Darren...You probably wouldn't have been on the stage...Also I must thank you, I haven't seen Britt as happy as she is now."
"She's a great girl, Carmichael! Thank you for helping to fulfill my dreams!"
We break away, "You might be my only true success, Estell...Remember the Tony's are soon...You might win!"
Then I hear a knock and I open the door. Darren. I pull him in.
"What is it, Babe?" I ask.
He answers," I was wondering if you wanted to get some chow,Quinn?"
"I was talking with Carmichael, should be a couple more minutes."
Carmichael then says, "No, you two go be young! You deserve it."
He smiles at both us.
Darren kisses my cheek, "What are you up for, Superstar?"
I answer, "Pizza."
Darren laughs, "You're always craving pizza!"
I smile and we walk out of the theatre.
We walk to the nearest pizza stop. We hold hands, link arms, and keep are bodies close. I put my head on Darren's shoulder.
"I love you," I whisper.
Darren kisses my forehead, "Love you too, Q."
The show's over, but we still have each other. We beam and laugh all the way to pizza. Holding onto all the memories that paed the way to our affair. I am forever greatful to Leah, Darren, and Carmichael for believing in me enough to give me the opportunity to be on Broadway. The duet Darren and I sang, is the last we'll sing on Broadway. For now, don't cry! Oh no I have the feels now!
