An article has praised me for my portrayal of Catia. I only just discovered it recently. It happened the day after the date. Here's how it all started.
I take the subway, another matinee performance of Soul Sister. Darren and I meet yet again on the subway. Instead of reading Anna Karenina, he has a newspaper. He shows me the front page when he spots me.
"Look who made the front page!" Darren exclaims.
My picture is worth a thousand words.
I then say, "Hi, Darren! May I have a look?"
Darren willingly hands me the newspaper. I begin to read.
A New Star in Town
By: Colin Tomlin

Some nights ago, I attended an eight o'clock showing of the new Broadway musical, Soul Sister. It is written by Broadway legend, Carmichael Schmidt, who's been in the business for almost twenty-five years. On that night, as I waited in anticipation, apparently quarrels were occuring backstage. Both the show's lead actress, Bree Thompson, and her Understudy, Taylor Summons, both fell ill that very morning. A last minute decision was made by Carmichael at the urging of leading male actor, Darren Criss. It was decided that a woman by the name of Quinn Estell wouuchosen to portray the star character, Catia Ramirez. This is supposed to be a review of the musical, but I've made the decision to put my focus on and write about Ms Estell.
Estell, was prior to this doing Bree Thompson's make-up. According to the show's casting director and former aspiring actress, Leah Blume, Estell initially auditioned for the role of Catia.
"She was so adorable...And very passionate when she sang her song...Within Quinn's eyes, you could see how devoted she was to her drive and passion...I knew in one moment of meeting her that she should've been our first choice for Catia...Carmichael had a very different vision though," says Blume.
Carmichael has no words on the topic whatsoever, but only yelled this, "The show had to go on!"
After the performance, I spoke to the leading man, Darren, and asked why he urged Carmichael to choose Miss Estell.
He tells the Gazette™, "After the premiere, Quinn sang " Somebody to Love" by Queen...It was so soulful and passionate. Now weeks later, we were so stuck and Carmichael was close to cancelling...Through it all, I just kept thinking, the show must go on...I then recollect Quinn, who I didn't know at the time, mouthing the songs and script attached rehearsals ...Also she told me it was her dream on Broadway, I wanted that to become reality for her, I put my faith into her, and then she did an amazing job!"
My thoughts of her performance...Miss Estell, told Catia's story through passionate music numbers and powerful release of dialogue. Her presence came across as nervous, but hid it with present confidence. Miss Estell engrossed me within the musical's simple plot and truly gave me a lense into her character's world as well as her emotions. I am impressed with her debut, in the future, I hope to discover that Miss Estell has found success! I see a Tony in her destiny! I am glad to have attended that marvelous musical. Watch out, Broadway! There's a new star in town named Quinn Estell and she is singing her way to the top!

"Oh my God! Oh my God! My first review is a good one!" I exclaim, while going completely crazy.
Darren moves next to me and kisses me on the forehead, "Congrats, Q."
I nuzzle my head on his chest, with his chin on my head.
We interlace our fingers together as we stride out of the subway. Darren begins playfully nudging me, his genuine grin ever present. I smile back at him. When we see the back door, we race\sprint to it. Darren gets to it first and opens the door with his own key.
He gestures for me to go inside, "After you."
I smirk at him as I walk in.
Then I feel Darren wrap his arms around me and I squeak like a mouse. I am also being lifted off my feet. I start to laugh in controllably. To top it off, Darren tickles me in my most sensitive tinkilish spot, my stomach. I am bursting into laughter, it could also be considered screeching. Despite my loudness, I hear the ice queen arguing with Carmichael. I stop laughing and tell Darren to stop.
"Why didn't you cancel?! Why give such an untalented little brat, my role?!" Bree yells.
Before I know it, Darren rushes to the stage. Oh great!
I hear Carmichael only saying, "The show had to go on."
"Why the hell do you keep saying that?!" Bree screams.
I am at the stage when Darren begins to lash out, "Hey, Bree! Quinn did way better than you will ever do on this stage! You're just an untalented (bleep)!"
Bree gasps. He had just cursed at her. Calling her a b-word.
I hold on to Darren, I see his fist being lifted.
"Darren, it's okay! She's not important! I don't care about what she says, I actually feel sorry for Bree." I tell him.
He backs off.
"You!" Bree hisses and running towards me, ready to strangle me. "You attention hog!"
Darren puts his arm in front of me, protecting me.
Then Carmichael's voice booms, "Bree, get the hell out of here!! I am sick of you disobeying me and being a vain (b-word)! Get out! You're fired!"
Bree stomps out and glares at me. Then I hear her crying. Carmichael exhales in relief and exhaustion.
"I've been waiting to do that, but what am I going to do about our lead?" Carmichael asks.
Darren moves to the side, so Carmichael could take a look at me. Carmichael smiles.
"I've truly found our Catia!"
I jump into his arms (Darren) and embrace Darren. I am crying tears of joy. He spins me around.
Then we hear Carmichael groan, "What about make-up for you?"
I reply, "Mr. Carmichael, I know someone who will take the job!"
He nods. I call Narnia, a co-worker of mine.
"Hi, this is Narnia!" she says.
I greet her saying, "Hey, it's Quinn!"
"Oh my God! I just read the article! Congrats, Q! What's up?"
I answer, " I'm now going to be playing the lead and they need someone to do my make-up...They are wondering if you would take it?"
"Oh my God! Yes! Anything for you! Thank you! " Narnia is all a flutter.
"I need you here in an hour, Narnia," I tell her.
Narnia says, "See you in a bit!"
She hangs up.
I go back to embracing Darren and letting him spin me around. Carmichael makes another complaint, the cast sheets all had Bree's name on them.
Darren then offers, "We could edit them, Carmichael."
Carmichael agrees. Yet again, Darren and I go back to celebrating.
Meeting Darren has truly opened doors for me. Now I would be singing duets with him almost every day. Dreams truly do come true, guys!
