"...E-Error?"
Hazel gawked at the big "Error" above her head.
"Error? B-But... that's... that's not possible... I-I have to get something! "
Hazel's eyes were wide, and she was breathing in panic. Was there... was there a glitch?
'This better be a glitch...' Hazel thought worriedly, clutching her very shaky hand.
'Oh, Ebony's definitely going to use this against me...'
Hazel tried to comfort herself by telling her that this was probably just a glitch, and that she'd tell her teachers and they'd know what to do. But they're just teachers, it's not like they'll know. This is new for them as well.
Hazel's head started spinning and slightly hurting as she walked downstairs after changing, to the dining table. Jason was excitedly talking to his mom about his new power. As soon as he saw his big sister, his eyes lit up brighter.
"Hazel! My power is air! I can create a mini tornado, look!"
Hazel smiled as Jason created a mini tornado in the palm of his hand.
"It kind of tickles." Jason giggled.
"That's really cool, Jason..."
Hazel's mom seemed to see the sadness in Hazel's eyes.
"You ok, sweetie?"
Emma, Jason and Hazel's dad, David, were all eating cereal for breakfast.
"If there's something wrong, you can tell us," Hazel's dad tried to comfort her.
Hazel smiled.
"It's nothing, I'm just a bit tired."
She tried changing the subject so her parents wouldn't persist any further.
"So, what powers did you guys get?"
Hazel's mom and dad both smiled.
"I got water."
"I got earth."
Hazel started pouring herself some milk and cereal as well while chuckling.
"What's so funny?" Hazel's mom smiled.
"Nothing."
Hazel shook her head and replied, while thinking.
Her mom's flowing and calm personality was definitely suited for water, and her dad's sturdy and caring personality was definitely best suited for earth. And Jason... his energetic personality was perfect for air.
She wondered if she would get another chance to get her powers... and if so... what would she get?
She sat down with the rest of her family, eating her cereal. They all started talking about things for while, when Jason started to ask Hazel a question.
"Oh wait, I forgot to ask! Sis, what power did you-"
"Hazel, you're going to miss your bus!"
Hazel was relieved her mom had interrupted Jason, as she didn't want to answer any questions about her power. She knew she'd have to tell her family sooner or later, but she felt like right now wasn't the right time.
"And honey, you're going to be late for work!"
Hazel's dad quickly ate the rest of his cereal, as did Hazel. They both quickly said goodbye to their family and rushed out of the house with their bags, shoes and jackets. Hazel ran to her bus stop, and her dad rushed to his car.
