The school day dragged on as usual, but today was different. Everywhere I went, whispers followed Sofia. It seemed like the whole school was buzzing with anticipation for something. I couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy for her, knowing she was under scrutiny.

During lunch, Sofia and I finally had a moment to sit down with Victor, Alastor, and Amara. They were all eager to hear about Sofia's upcoming training session and the assembly.

"So, Sofia, feeling nervous about your training later?" Amara asked, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Sofia tried to play it cool, but I could sense a hint of excitement in her voice. "Maybe a little, but mostly excited," she replied, taking a bite of her sandwich.

"You'll crush it, Sofia. You've got this," Victor chimed in, giving her an encouraging smile.

After school, Sofia and I made our way to her training session together. As we walked, we engaged in our usual banter, trying to lighten the mood. But I couldn't shake off the feeling of tension in the air.

When we arrived at the training area, I noticed a group of Sofia's classmates gathered nearby, whispering amongst themselves. Suddenly, Ethan, a guy from our class, stepped forward nervously.

"Hey, Sofia," Ethan began, his voice wavering slightly. "I was wondering if, um, maybe you'd want to go out with me this weekend? Like, on a date?"

I felt a twinge of discomfort as Ethan's words hung in the air. Sofia looked surprised, and I couldn't help but tense up, waiting for her response.

Sofia glanced at me briefly before turning back to Ethan. "Thanks, Ethan, but I think I'll have to pass. I've got training and stuff," she replied, her tone gentle but firm.

I tried to maintain a neutral expression, but inside, I couldn't help but feel relieved. However, Sofia's next words caught me off guard.

"Besides," she continued, shooting me a teasing glance, "I wouldn't want to make Hugo jealous."

I raised an eyebrow, unable to hide my amusement. "Jealous? Please, I'm not the one getting asked out in front of the whole school," I retorted, trying to play it cool.

Sofia laughed, and for a moment, everything felt light and easy between us. As we entered the training area, I couldn't shake off the feeling of gratitude for having her by my side. No matter what, I knew we could always share a laugh together.

As we started her training, Sofia looped her arm around my neck, pulling me into a quick hug. "Don't worry, Hugo. You're the only one for me," she whispered in my ear, sending a shiver down my spine.

I grinned, feeling a surge of warmth. "Likewise, Sofia. Let's crush this training together," I replied, feeling more confident with her support. With Sofia by my side, I knew we could handle anything that came our way
