The next day , I found myself sitting with Sofia in the school courtyard, discussing the upcoming Flying Derby championships. The event was a big deal, and everyone was buzzing about it. Sofia and I had been partners in the past, and I knew she had the skills to dominate the competition.

"Are you thinking about participating in the championships this year?" I asked, leaning back against the bench.

Sofia looked thoughtful. "I don't know, Hugo. With all the responsibilities of being a protector and my other duties, I'm not sure if I have the time to train properly."

Just then, Alastor and Victor, two of my closest friends and fellow derby enthusiasts, strolled over. They were both grinning, clearly having overheard our conversation.

"Did I hear someone doubting their derby skills?" Alastor teased, giving Sofia a playful nudge.

"Yeah, Sofia, you've got to compete," Victor added, nodding enthusiastically. "You're one of the best flyers out there. Better than most of us, actually."

Sofia smiled, but she still seemed uncertain. "I appreciate the confidence, guys, but it's not just about skills. I have a lot on my plate right now."

Alastor scoffed, crossing his arms. "Come on, Sofia. You've balanced being a princess, and a top student. Adding derby training to the mix should be a piece of cake for you."

"Besides," Victor chimed in, "the championship wouldn't be the same without you. Everyone looks up to you as a competitor. You're like a legend in the derby circuit."

I could see Sofia was wavering, and I decided to throw in my own support. "They're right, Sofia. You're incredible out there. And think about how much fun it would be to compete together again. We make a great team."

Sofia's eyes sparkled with a hint of excitement, but she still hesitated. "It's just... I don't want to let anyone down if I can't give it my all."

I reached out and took her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Sofia, you've never let anyone down. You always give your best, and that's all anyone can ask for. Plus, we'll all be there to support you."

Alastor and Victor nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we've got your back, Sofia," Alastor said. "We can even help you with training if you need it."

Sofia finally smiled, a genuine one that reached her eyes. "Alright, alright. You guys have convinced me. I'll participate in the Flying Derby championships."

The three of us cheered, and I felt a rush of excitement. "That's the spirit! This is going to be amazing."

Victor clapped me on the shoulder. "And with Sofia on our team, we've got a real shot at winning this year."

Alastor grinned. "Definitely. Now, let's start planning our training sessions. We've got to make sure we're all in top form."

As we continued to talk strategy and training schedules, I couldn't help but feel proud of Sofia. She had so much on her plate, yet she still managed to be there for her friends and take on new challenges. I knew the upcoming derby championships were going to be an unforgettable experience, and I was grateful to have Sofia by my side for it.

As we wrapped up our discussion and headed to our next class, I couldn't resist giving Sofia a quick, encouraging kiss on the cheek. "You're going to crush it out there, babe. I believe in you."

She blushed slightly but smiled back at me, her determination shining through. "Thanks, Hugo. With you guys supporting me, I know I can do it."

And with that, we walked into the school building, ready to take on whatever challenges came our way—on the ground and in the sky.
