Summary: You and the squad are infiltrating an Imperial outpost on Scarif.

Warnings: Cursing

"Gods... this outpost is far." Hunter says under his breath.

"We would be there already if we took the path we were supposed to go on." Crosshair replies coldly, swatting some leaves out of his face.

He's right. There was a much more direct path to reach the outpost, but Hunter insisted on going this way for stealth ("A stealth mission?" Echo remarked. "When have we ever completed a successful stealth mission?"). Your boots are getting covered in mud from the wet forest floor below you.

"You are correct, Crosshair." Tech chimes in. "However, this part of Scarif is quite fascinating. There are many types of fauna and flora, even poisonous-"

"No, no, no." Echo interrupts. "I don't want to hear about the poisonous stuff."

"Have you ever been to Scarif, Y/N?" Omega asks.

You shake your head. "No. I've never even heard of it until this mission."

"The Republic used to export materials here until it was taken over by the Empire." Echo informs all of you. "It's happened to too many planets..."

~

After a long period of listening to the squad bickering with each other as usual, you finally make your way out of the forest.

"Finally." Hunter sighs.

Hunter turns around to all of you. "Tech, how close are we?"

Tech looks down at his datapad. "Approximately two klicks east."

Hunter faces the end of the forest again. "Alright. And remember, everyone- once we get there, we don't shoot unless it's necessary. No blasters, no bows, and no lightsabers."

"How about bombs?" Wrecker jokes.

Hunter whips his head around to glare at Wrecker. Wrecker's face becomes serious again.

There isn't much to do right now while you're walking, so you decide to talk to Tech.

"Could you tell me about the forests on Scarif?" You ask.

~

You listen to Tech talk for around 20 minutes. Most people are bothered by Tech's rants about things he is interested in, but you love it.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Tech says, blushing. "I've been talking for too long."

You shake your head and hold one of his hands. "Don't apologize. I like listening to you talk."

Tech smiles slightly at you. You see Hunter hold up a fist; his signal to stop. Everyone stops behind him, waiting for his next instructions.

"Alright. Tech, Y/N, Echo, and I will sneak into the outpost through the south entrance. Wrecker, Crosshair, and Omega will stay here until we call for you."

"It's because you don't trust us, huh?" Wrecker says, crossing his arms.

"Well, no. I mean, not exactly..."

Crosshair rolls his eyes. "Grow up. All of you."

"I promise I trust you all." Hunter says as you, Tech, Echo, and him move out.

~

Luckily, the outpost doesn't have a lot of soldiers guarding it. However, you notice multiple places where the soldiers on the outpost can signal for backup.

"We need to take out the guards next to the alarms." You state, pointing to them. "We're done for if they call for backup."

"I'll get Crosshair on it." Hunter turns on his comlink. "Crosshair. We need you to take out the guards next to the alarms."

"On it." Crosshair responds.

You wait everyone but Crosshair, Omega, and Wrecker in some nearby bushes near the south entrance for Crosshair to take the shots. You see the two next to the alarms fall unconscious as Crosshair stuns them with his sniper.

"What was that?" One of the guards says.

"Go check over there."

"That's our opportunity." Hunter says, quickly walking towards the south entrance.

~

"Quickly, Tech..." Hunter says, his tone urgent as Tech hacks into the system that unlocks the door.

Tech says nothing but continues working. The door eventually opens.

"There."

All of you walk into the outpost and shut the door behind you.

"Are you alright?" Echo says on his comlink to the others.

"We're fine. We dealt with the guards that went after us." Omega responds.

"Good." Echo says.

The inside of the outpost is small from a first glance. The lighting a warm color, but it's dim, and the lights flicker every so often. It seems normal for an Imperial outpost- crates with weapons and rations take up the majority of the space. You all stay close to the left wall as you make your way through the outpost. You find a clone in the "common area" of the outpost. Tech quickly stuns him.

"Is this it?" Echo asks, confused. "I though the base would be bigger."

You notice a trapdoor in the corner of the room. "What's that?"

Hunter walks over and opens the trapdoor. "You all are going to want to see this..."

~

You look down the trapdoor opening. It leads to giant basement with hundreds of shipments.

"This isn't just an outpost..." Echo begins.

"It's a factory." Tech states.

"We have no idea how many soldiers are down there. We could get ambushed." Hunter says.

"We can't just leave this here." You say. "They'll continue making whatever they're doing down there. This could get us intel."

"That's true." Hunter replies, turning on his comlink. "We need you in here. Come to the south entrance."

"Copy that. We're on our way." Omega says.

As you wait, Tech walks over to you. "I don't know what's going to happen down there, mesh'la, but... I love you."

"We'll be fine, Tech." You kiss him. "I love you too."

~

Once the others make their way to the trapdoor, Hunter climbs down the ladder into the basement. You go down next, signaling that it's safe. Everyone hides behind a stack of crates, listening to the clones talk.

"Did you hear something?"

"Kriffing hell, Checkmate. No, I didn't hear anything. You're just lonely because we haven't seen anyone in months."

"Are you calling me crazy, Limit?"

"Are we sure we want to stun these clones?" Omega whispers. "They just seem sad."

"It's not like we're killing them." Crosshair whispers back.

"You heard those voices, right, Limit?"

You hear who seems to be Limit sigh. "Yeah. Fine. Let's check it out."

~

The two clones walk closer to the stack of crates all of you are hiding behind. Once they see you all, they point their blasters at you.

"Oh, shit!" Checkmate yells.

You notice that both of the clones' hands are shaking. They're scared, and you can't blame them. Hunter stands up.

"It's alright. We aren't here to hurt you."

"What are you doing here?" Limit responds, his voice shaking.

"Well... we were trying to infiltrate this base."

Echo inspects their armor and their demeanors. "You gentlemen don't seem like true Imperial soldiers."

"W-What do you mean?" Limit says through shuddered breaths. "Good soldiers follow orders..."

"Relax." Echo replies. "We're The Bad Batch. A squadron of rogue clones. You don't have to act like you want to be with the Empire anymore."

They both sigh and drop their blasters.

"Oh, thank the Gods..." Limit sighs.

~

"You two need to get out of here." You say.

"We can't just leave!" Checkmate says.

"Why not?"

"They'll find us!"

"On Scarif? This is one of the most desolate planets." Crosshair reminds them. "Trust me, the Empire won't be looking for you."

"We can take you on our ship. I have a contact that can help you." Echo tells them.

"You'd do that?" Limit says in disbelief.

Echo nods. "Now c'mon, we need to leave."

Everyone climbs up the ladder and runs towards the Marauder.

~

Once you all get to the ship, Tech quickly gets the Marauder ready to takeoff. You sit next to him in the cockpit. Echo doesn't mind; he's talking to Checkmate and Limit.

"Out of all of the things I was expecting to find in that outpost, it certainly wasn't rogue clones." Tech states.

"Well, did you expect to find a Jedi on a random street during a mission?"

Tech smiles. "You are correct."

"I know we didn't fully take out the outpost and get a chance to look at the new technology, but we helped some people today. That's what matters."

Tech nods. "Yes. That's what matters."
