After the meeting, everyone came back to their bedrooms to rest. I did the same, eager for the next day to come.
The day after, as I was getting ready, I started to stress. Me, training with weapons?? I'll hurt myself! Or worse, I'll hurt Jimin!! And if there is blood, he won't be able to control himself and I'll put us both in danger again!! I know he will take the potion but I'm really dubious about the efficiency of its effects. I'm overthinking too much, I guess. I need to relax. Everything will be alright.
I was told to go to Hoseok first, to fetch the potion for Jimin. So I went to the research laboratory where Hoseok was working. When I entered, he was reading a big book that made me think of a witchcraft book. He was so focused that he didn't seem to see me.
"Hey it's me! What are you reading?" I asked.
"Oh hello. I'm looking for a way to improve the potion so the effects last longer" Hoseok explained.
"That would be useful indeed" I commented. "By the way, has your power recharged?"
"Yes it did. Not to its full potential yet, but almost" he answered.
"Then, can you heal Namjoon and Taehyung?" I asked, hopeful.
"You're really worried about them. I would almost envy them. They're better, they healed by themselves, they don't need my help anymore" he replied.
"Oh I see... You didn't have the opportunity to practise then" I realised.
Maybe I can help him with that?
"Perhaps I can... cut myself so you can practise on me?" I suggested.
Seokjin insisted on the fact that we all need to practise after all, so if I can help, I must.
Hoseok turned to me at these words, frowning.
"Do you realise what you're saying?" He said, seemingly upset.
"I-I just want to help you" I answered, surprised to see him angry.
"Help me??" He said in a mad voice. "What about helping yourself first?"
"Helping myself?" I asked, unsure of what he meant.
He sighed but his brows were still furrowed. "Your health comes first! Why would you hurt yourself intentionally, it makes no sense! Plus, you think a paper cut will help me improve my potential? I need much more than that! Though you live here now and some rules may change a little, the one about not bleeding still stands!" He said.
"I shouldn't bleed in front of Jimin, I know, but for you it's okay, I know you're in control" I said.
He came closer, still angry.
"What am I?" He asked.
It seems out of the blue.
"A vampire" I answered, quite confused.
"What's my diet?" He asked.
"Um, blood" I answered, slowly understanding where he was going.
"Right, and I shall remind you that your blood is special and alluring. Any vampire would love tasting it, and I am no exception" he said, a bit threatening.
-Choice to offer your blood or apologise-
1. Offer your blood
I considered what he said. I imagined myself eating my favourite food. Perhaps I can give him some of my blood, even if it's just a drop?
"Then... Would you like to taste it?" I offered shyly.
"Would I like to taste it?" He repeated.
"I-I don't mind" I said, getting more and more embarrassed by the minute.
He stepped back immediately. I looked at him surprised.
"You didn't understand anything of what I've just told you" he said bitterly.
"I-I just thought it would please you" I explained.
"You take this all too lightly..." He said, clearly disappointed.
I guess I messed up really bad.
He took a deep breath to calm down.
"Look, you may think that it is a common thing for vampires. But the truth is, for vampires like us, it is no small thing to drink blood from humans. We very rarely do it, never for some of us. Instead, we feed on animals. This is completely different from humans who generally eat three meals a day" he explained.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know all this. All this vampire concept is still new to me." I apologised.
He sighed. "Let's forget about this, alright? But no matter what happens, you must always keep in mind that we are vampires before anything else" he said.
I nodded. He's completely right. They may not seem very different from me, and I'm getting used to them more and more as I live here. But they will always be vampires, while I remain a human. I cannot forget this, there are differences between us that will never change.
"Follow me, I'll give you the potion for Jimin" he said, walking towards a cauldron.
He took a small bottle and filled it with the liquid from the cauldron.
"Do not forget, Jimin must drink it before you start your training" he reminded me, handing me the potion.
"Yes I'll make sure of it" I assured him.
