When I woke up, I had no idea how long I had been sleeping. I looked to the side and found Jimin instead of Yoongi. He seemed very nervous.
"Jimin?" I called his name.
He jerked his head up and his eyes were filled with fear and sorrow.
"Y/N... I need to tell you something" he said, looking down.
I sat up in anticipation. Is it bad news?
"Did you... have another nightmare?" I asked.
"No not yet..."
"Not yet?" I asked, not understanding what he meant.
"In fact, this is what I wanted to tell you about. The nightmare I had... don't you feel it's familiar now? Didn't you draw any parallels?"
I closed my eyes to reminisce about his nightmare. I remember my body on the ground. It was at night, in the forest. And I was badly injured...
Wait a second! This was... so similar to my incident.
I opened my eyes wide at the realisation.
"The attack... What's the link with your nightmare?" I asked, still unsure of the relation between the two.
Jimin sighed before opening his mouth to speak.
"It wasn't a nightmare. It was a vision. A vision of the future"
I was speechless. I didn't know such an ability existed. No wonder the 'nightmare' and the attack looked so similar. They were one and the same.
"Is that... your power?" I asked tentatively.
He nodded at me, not as happy as I expected him to be.
"But that's wonderful! You've been waiting for so long!" I exclaimed, sincerely expressing my joy.
"Yes I'm glad about this. But Y/N... I have foreseen your attack, and yet, I didn't do anything to avoid it. I foolishly thought it was just a nightmare. I'm so sorry, if only I had realised sooner, you wouldn't have been hurt..." He said regretfully.
"Oh Jimin no, don't say that. This isn't your fault. I'm the one who convinced you it was a nightmare. And besides, we don't know what could have happened. I am no expert on the subject, but changing the future can have dire consequences, right?"
At least, this was the assumption I could make with the knowledge I had from fiction. I remembered the books I read in my childhood. Changing the future could make things worse and others disappear. Two people could be never meeting each other again. A child could be unborn. A greater catastrophe could happen. Foreseeing the future was one thing, but changing it was on a whole other level.
"That's a danger." Jimin admitted. "But at least you wouldn't have been alone. I could have protected you. I would have done everything in my power to prevent this"
I smiled at him, moved by his words.
"I know you would have. I fully trust you with my safety. I understand how you must be feeling, but please, don't worry about what happened. It was an unfortunate incident which could have hardly been avoided. And besides, I'm fully healed now. So let's look towards the future" I winked at him, referring to his power.
"Yes you're right. It's too late anyway. From now on, I'll be careful about any vision I get. And I'll try to foresee your future, to avoid any danger coming your way" he said, determined.
"I trust you Jimin" I said with a confident smile.
He smiled back at me.
Then someone knocked on the door.
