"Thank you for agreeing to help me with sword fighting Tokoyami" Midoryia thanked as the two entered the sparing area
"my pleasure midoriya, I do enjoy the chance to share the excitement of the blade" Tokoyami obliged as he held the sword with precision
Zero quirks were agreed to be used
although darkshadow was always allowed to commentate if she ever desired
and of course, ring the bell to begin the match
Midoriya as always leapt first as tokoyami analyzed his moves
the green-haired boy holding the sword strong and yet so weakly
the raven using the tip of the blade to midoriyas wrist
knocking it out of his hand so easily
Midoriya looking shocked at how fast he lost before darkshadow retrieved and gave the multiple quirk user the blade once more
"Again" Tokoyami announced
the friendly tone is gone and replaced with more of an analytic and tactical voice
Midoryia going again and again
but just as much tokoyami easily battered the sword away
leaving midoriya stuck in a breathless posture, unsure of how to progress
"how are you so good at this?" Midoriya asked as he raised the sword once more
but this time tokoyami was the one to start the attack
"the motivation I harness is one that you seem to lack," The raven said with venom
"huh?" Midoriya asked with light fear as he was suddenly blocking attacks left and right, but ended up crumpling with a hard blow to his abdomen and ribs
"you're sloppy, unfocused and lack understanding, you seem not to care if you get caught and that will be all your loved ones' undoing" Tokoyami stated as he circled around him
"Hey, don't you think you're-" Midoriya began as he tried anticipating moves, only to feel the edge of a blade pressed against the back of his neck
"How can you protect those if you cannot protect yourselves, if you do not fight for yourself how can you expect to fight for others" Tokoyami continued to scold
"When I fight, I fight for all those I hold dear, what type of hero can I be if leave them defenceless, I fight for darkshadow, I fight for hawks, I fight for you, I fight for all those I care for" Tokoyami practically growled as Midoriya breathed shakily as the tip of the blade pressed further, ever so lightly grazing
"so who do you fight for"
such a simple question
such an empowering question
making midoriya duck from the blade and turn, grabbing his own blade and throwing his opponent off guard
clashing blades as he attacked but the raven blocked easily
when the raven went for the blow the green boy was able to block but was still swept off his feet, landing on his rear but still blocking where tokoyami's sword was pointing to
Midoriya looked up to see where tokoyami's disgusted face changed to one of promise
"Better" Tokoyami smiled as he dropped his sword and instead extended his hand
Midoriya shakily accepted as he was pulled onto his feet
"keep that up, and you'll be a swordsman in no time" tokoyami said as he gave a quick nod as the two made their way out
