When Tokoyami was due to be born, he was to be expected one out of seven siblings
The news of a baby was already a joyous surprise
So when they were given the news of how many...they did stress and faint from shock but overall excited
Luckily their grandfather came to their aid, excited as he always wanted grandchildren and supplied them with everything they could ever need
7 of everything, 7 cribs, 7 high chairs, 7 starter teddies etc
They painted the large room a simple nice yellow as they wanted to keep the genders a surprise
When her due date was upon them she had been invited to come and stay at the hospital for as long as they needed
After all, it wasn't every day 7 babies were born
When Tokoyami's mother's water broke and ready for delivery they had their chosen names ready, grandparents ready for delivery to help with holding each bundle of joy
"Congratulations, this one a boy" The midwife confirmed as she helped give their first baby to the couple
a beautiful tiny baby boy with a raven head who was crying loudly now being exposed to the cold air
"Oh, he's beautiful, You're doing so well" Mr. Tokoyami proclaimed as he reassured his wife, wiping her forehead and kissing it as the baby was given to Mrs. Tokoyami so they could start bonding
Mrs tokoyami pushed further but what came out was just the placenta
"W, what's happening?" Mrs Tokoyami questioned as her contractions began to slow
Confusion swept the delivery room
"We'll just do a check" the Nurse muttered gently as she got the ultrasound machine prepared
but to their confusion, there wasn't anything else in her stomach
and they searched thoroughly, but there was nothing
The family left the hospital with confusion and a single baby as opposed to seven
It was only when he was 4 did they finally had an explanation for where his siblings had gone
Years passed as Tokoyami walked towards his new school after passing the entrance exam
"You didn't have to walk me" Tokoyami sighed with embarrassment as he walked between his mother and father
"Oh I know, but we couldn't help it, We're just so proud of how far you've come, all of you," his mother said as she held back her tears of pride
they had always been like this, when he was the only 1 of seven to have "survived" it made them cautious and extremely protective, it was understandable and Tokoyami loved them both dearly, but they were so clingy
Tokoyami knew the reasons why but he was still at that age where he couldn't help but feel embarrassed as he felt like a little kid as no one else's parents were "dropping" him off at school
"Thank you Mother, but it seems we've reached our stop," Tokoyami said sweetly but pleadingly as he stopped them from coming anywhere close to the front gates
His mother held back her tears as she embraced her son with one last hug
"Do your best honey" she whispered gently as she kissed his forehead
