~ Marley's POV ~
I opened the door, smiling, and then I saw Natalie sitting on the bed.
"Hey," I said. I had stopped smiling.
"Hey," she said
"I saw Benny leave."
"Yeah, he did."
We were silent for a few seconds. I didn't know what to do.
"So, what's up?" she asked
I wanted to tell her about Rory and I, but a small part of me didn't want to.
"Oh, nothing much," I said. I will tell her, eventually.
"It's like we're just texting," she chuckled.
"Yeah, it is..." my voice trailed off.
I was so happy about going on a date with Rory, but I didn't want to tell her yet. I was afraid she would freak out. Besides, she likes Benny and I don't want her to get jealous of me because I started dating before she did, when I don't even live here.
"Did you have fun with Rory?" she asked.
"Yeah. We had fun. He's a good friend," I said. Ugh, I still didn't tell her, but I will. "Did you have fun with Benny?" I asked.
"Yeah," she smiled.
"Why did you think something was wrong?" I asked.
"Well, Ethan called Benny and said he needed to go to his house, so I went with him. When we got there, we were worried that something was wrong because you weren't there. I texted you to see if you were okay, and you didn't reply even though you said you would be there right away if I called," she explained.
Oh no, I did say that, didn't I? I turned my phone off because I didn't want anything to interrupt Rory and I. I said I would be there for Natalie and I wasn't.
"Why didn't you answer?" she asked.
"I'm sorry. I didn't get your text. My phone was off," I said as I pulled out my phone and turned it on.
"Oh, okay."
"Yeah..."
~ Natalie's POV ~
I was talking to Marley, but it was so awkward. We were both keeping things from each other, but she didn't know I knew about everything.
"Did you have fun with Rory?" I asked.
"Yeah. We had fun. He's a good friend," she said. She didn't mention the part where he would be more than just a friend. "Did you have fun with Benny?" she asked.
"Yeah," I smiled. I still didn't tell her that we heard everything, but I will soon.
"Why did you think something was wrong?" she asked.
I told her about Ethan calling us and I told her that I texted her. "Why didn't you answer?" I asked.
"I'm sorry. I didn't get your text. My phone was off," she said while she turned her phone back on.
I know she didn't forget. It's not like her to have her phone off for more than thirty minutes. She just had her phone off so she could spend more time with her new friend.
"Oh, okay," I didn't question her, even though I knew what happened.
"Yeah..." she sounded like something was wrong, but I knew what it was.
Even though it was bad that she didn't tell me what happened between her and Rory, it was also bad that Benny and I were there and didn't say anything, so I felt bad about not telling her. I'll tell her. I can't keep it from her forever. Maybe she'll tell me first. Maybe it'll be soon, but she'll also leave soon. I wonder how long she'll wait. I wonder how long I'll wait.
I don't want her to leave when both of our secrets haven't been told. I know she'll forgive me. I just have to explain why we were there, and why we didn't leave. I'll tell her I felt bad about it. I'll tell her about how I wanted to leave. She's my best friend. I know she'll forgive me, just like I forgive her for not telling me about Rory.
