~ Natalie's POV ~
Benny hugged me. The hug was so perfect. It was probably a friendly hug, but it meant a lot to me. Every time he hugged me it meant a lot. I feel safe and it lets me know that he cares about me. I'll just let it be this way. I can't tell if he likes me. It seemed like he did when he first became my friend, but now, I just don't know. Yes, he felt a connection when we first met in the comic book store, but what if that connection left? If I tell him I like him, it might get awkward. We've been friends for this long. I don't want to ruin our friendship.
~ Marley's POV ~
We sat down at our booth. I was already loving this date so much.
"What do you want to drink?" Rory asked me.
"Oh, I'll have a Sprite," I said.
The waiter came and asked us what drink we wanted.
"I'll take a coke, and the lady will take a sprite," Rory said, and the waiter wrote our drink order in a small notepad and walked away.
"Rory, you didn't have to order for me," I said.
"I wanted to," he smiled at me and took my hand from across the table.
"Thank you, but you're acting so sophisticated," I laughed.
"You are the most amazing, kindhearted, beautiful girl I've ever met. You should be treated the best. Also, you're leaving tomorrow. I want you to have the best date ever. I'm going to try my best to give you that," Rory said.
"Wow, I don't know what to say," I was blushing. I hoped it wasn't too noticeable, but it probably was.
"That's the smile I love to see," Rory smiled back at me.
"Now what do you want to eat?" he asked, and we stopped holding hands so we could look at the menu.
"Wow, I don't know. There's so much to choose from, but I'm really in the mood for chicken for some reason," I said.
"That reminds me; there's something I think you should know," he said.
"Chicken reminds you?" I laughed, but on the inside I was wondering what it was.
"Yeah, well, you see, because I'm a vampire, I do different things. I also eat rats-"
"Rats? Ew!" I put my hand over my mouth. That's disgusting, but there must be a reason why. That doesn't change my opinion about him. "Why?"
"Rats have blood, and when I'm hungry, sometimes I just go for a rat. It's not just me. It's Erica, Sarah, any vampire. I know it's disgusting, but it's necessary," he explained.
"That's okay. I understand, but it is gross," I laughed. "It doesn't change anything, though."
"Anyway, you said you want chicken. There's many different chicken plates on the menu. What do you want?" he asked.
To be honest, I've always ordered chicken tenders almost everywhere. I'm not the only one, right? I guess I should try something different.
"I don't know," I said.
I looked on the menu and saw many different things. Grilled chicken, chicken leg plate, something chicken (whatever that is), there's so much to choose from.
