Dakota's P.O.V:

After Ezra called me and told me that I needed to give Alex a place to stay for a few weeks, I started to clean up one of the spare rooms in the house for her to sleep in. As I was doing that I heard a knock on the door to the room that I was in. I went to see who was at the door and saw Jackson.

"Hey Jackson. Did you need something?" I asked, letting him into the room.

"I was wondering if you wanted me or one of the others to pick up your sister." He said as he looked around the room.

"Yeah, I'll go with you. Just give me a moment." I said back.

Once we got to the animal shelter that Alex worked at we stood outside of the building waiting for her to get off shift. As we were waiting for her to finish her work for the day, Jackson and I sat down on the bench that was placed in front of the animal shop she works at. As we were sitting there and waiting for Alex to show up outside of the shelter I took a look around at everything that was around us in the area. I noticed that across the street is a small vegetable market that seems to be selling fresh fruits and vegetables. The next thing that I took note of was all of the people who were walking in and out of the different kinds of shops around the area, along with the people who were just passing by on the sidewalk. There were also some people biking through the area in small groups. As I was taking all of this in I heard the bell to the animal shelter ring so I looked over towards the door and saw Alex finally walk out.

"Hey, Ezra told me that you would need a place to stay for the next couple of weeks and asked me if I had any room for another person. So what do you say, want to stay with your brother for a while?" I asked her after I stood up and walked towards her along with Jackson.

"Huh, I have a place to stay already. Why would I have to stay with you for a few weeks?" Alex asked and tilted her head in confusion.

"What, your coats and torn up blankets piled up in an alleyway? No, you will not be staying there any longer. I won't allow it." I told her as I crossed my arms and looked her in the eyes.

"Oh, and why not? I've been living there ever since I got out of the delinquents center, no thanks to you." She said and mumbled the last part thinking that I wouldn't be able to hear her.

"I'm sorry, I... I just didn't know how you or anyone else would react. I should have done something to help you, Alex." I told her, pulling her into a tight hug.

"I know, it's alright. I probably would have actually killed you if you really did just show up out of nowhere so suddenly." Alex said with a soft laugh.

"I'm just glad that you're okay. No one there hurt you, right? If they did, then I'm gonna end their lives." I said seriously.

"I'm fine. They didn't want to have a target put on their backs by a family killer." Alex told me.

"Come on, let's go and get anything that you may need for the next two weeks that you are with me. Lead the way." I told her as I released the hug that we were still in.

"Okay. It's this way." She said before walking ahead of me and Jackson.

As the three of us were healing to the place that Alex used to be living I kept my eyes on all of the people around us to make sure that they wouldn't try to hurt or attack any of us. As we were walking and almost made it to where Alex used to stay I noticed that we were being watched and followed by at least two or three unknown people. I looked over at Jackson and he signaled that he also noticed that we were being followed by someone. Just as we turned the corner of the alleyway we were heading towards I felt the presence of the two people following us grow even stronger. I was quick to push Alex towards Jackson and turn around to face whoever it was that had been following us this entire time. As I was waiting for the two unknown people to show themselves I got down in a pouncing position ready to attack anyone who may be trying to bring any kind of harm to me, Alex, or Jackson. Alex was about to ask what was going on before I told her to stay quiet for a minute. After about a minute or two the people who had been following us finally decided to show themselves to us.
