Sophie's POV
It wasn't every day that Sophie woke up to a big brown package sitting on her desk. Confused and curious, she rushed to get ready and threw on a light ice blue shirt and a pleated white skirt to match. She grabbed her phone and the package, checking the details on it while jogging down the stairs. Dangerous and reckless but she wasn't in the mood to care about anything else.
She nearly tripped six times on her way to the couch but she shrugged it off. It was a regular thing for Sophie Foster. She set both things down on the coffee table, greeted Edaline and Grady good morning, and started inspecting the package better. Her lips quirked with a smile when she realized who it was from.
Keefe.
Keefe and Sophie had been dating for 9 months now. Keefe had skipped a year and was in his first year of college all the way in San Diego. Her home country. She shook her head. This was her home. No thinking about those. She was in her final year of high school in New York. That's when she remembered. It was Valentine's Day! Her small smile widened and she tore into the package. Inside the brown packaging was a box delicately wrapped in ice blue paper and written in Keefe's loopy handwriting in neat letters were the words ' Happy Valentine's Day Foster!' with a small heart that sent a rush of warmth inside her.
She slowly removed the paper and it revealed a box in the shade of his eyes with gold lining on the top. Each side had a picture of Sophie with Keefe printed on it and engraved on the lid in loopy gold letters were the words 'Team Foster-Keefe' Tears welled in her eyes as she smiled at the gift, she was about to lift the lid when her phone rang. Her eyes lit up as she saw the Caller ID and she picked up immediately.
" Morning, Foster. Happy Valentine's Day!" Keefe greeted her, a smile playing on his lips. She returned the same greeting with enthusiasm. His eyes twinkled happily as he spotted his gift near her. " Is that my gift?" He asked. She nodded and propped the phone so that he could see her actions. She lifted the lid of the box slowly and a gasp escaped her lips. Inside was a stack of cards and when she went through each one, her eyes widened. Each and every card was a painting of a moment or picture Keefe and Sophie had shared. They were bound together like a sketchbook. At the very end of all 20 pages was a very very sweet letter addressed to her.
Dear Sophie,
Happy Valentine's Day! This gift is for you to know and realize, I love you more than anything else in this entire universe. And this entire letter is mainly me promising you things and emphasizing how much I love you, so deal with it.
I know I'm away right now but that just makes me feel more affectionate towards you. I miss you so much and I'm sure you miss me too. These are only 20 of the times we spent together but I promise you, we'll share so much together, no amount of paper will be enough to capture everything. I may not have captured your beauty(and my hair's) as perfectly as in real life but I tried my best. I love you so much, remind me next time I meet you to give you a big hug and kisses. They'll be evidence of my love for you.
No words show how much I love you. Which is why I choose to show you through physically. Call me as soon as you can. And remember.
I love you, Sophie.
Love,
Keefe.
Sophie had to blink to clear her fuzzy vision. Which she then realized were fuzzy because of her tears. She remembered she was still on a video call with Keefe. She glanced up and found him smiling softly at her. " You like it?" He asked. She nodded, still speechless. " I love it." She corrected after regaining her composure. He smiled wider. " Wait- don't you have prom tonight? Do you have a date?"
Sophie shook her head. " I'm not going, I don't want to go without you." Keefe sighed. "Whether I'm there or not you should go, and have fun with your friends. Or maybe you could find a date to go with you... I'm sure someone asked you out." He stated. She didn't want to tell him he was right. She had been asked out by several boys but she turned them all down. " No, I won't go it's fine."
This went on several times back and forth until Sophie relented and agreed to go with friends.
"That's not all the surprise you know..."Keefe asked. Sophie blinked. " It's not?" Keefe chuckled and nodded. " Go open the door," he told her. Suspicious, she left everything on the table and walked to the door. She flung it open and the surprise waiting for her left her speechless.
Standing there smirking at her and looking devilishly handsome was her boyfriend.
Keefe.
" You—I—Keefe—your here?" She spluttered. He placed his phone in his pocket and held his arms out for her. She practically flung herself into them, burrowing her head into his chest. ( that a thing right? Sorry my brain never works at school and I'm in class rn) He laughed and wrapped his arms around her, holding her tighter. " You missed me?" He teased. " I did. More than you know." She responded her voice thick. It's been months since they saw each other in person.
Keefe kissed the top of her head. " Let's go in, Edaline and Grady already know my plan," he suggested. Sophie gaped at him. " How long have you planned all this?" Keefe laughed again. Beautiful sound.
" A long, long time."
Sophie shook her head, fondly and pulled him into the house. They both collapsed onto the couch while Edaline brought them snacks.
" Hey Foster?" Keefe asked, his voice low. She turned to him, an eyebrow raised. He leaned in to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. " Happy Valentines Day. I love you," He whispered before pressing his lips to hers. Sparks shot through her body as their lips moved together in a familiar dance. She placed her hand on his chest, clutching the fabric of his shirt in her fist, inhaling his sweet vanilla scent.
They broke apart minutes later, breathless. " I have somewhere to take you, you want to come?" He asked her. She nodded readily and dashed upstairs to grab her things, laughing, Keefe followed her.

Keefe's POV
Keefe led Sophie to his car. She had brought her white handbag that was a gift from him. He had planned an entire day of surprises for them both. He hoped she'll like it.When Keefe parked the car at the side of the beach, he could tell Sophie was surprised. " The beach?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. Keefe just grinned at her and nodded. She chuckled softly as he pulled the door open for her.
They spent some of the morning at the beach, talking and walking and that's when they decided to get into the water.
" But I don't have any swimsuits or a change of clothes!" Sophie protested. Keefe smirked at her and asked her to give him one minute. He ran back to the car and picked up the things he had bought for her. He had been planning this for a month, wanting everything to go perfect. He hoped she wasn't too tired, this was only one of the things he had in his list.
When he joined Sophie again, she was taken aback by the things in his hands. " I have 2 sets of shirts for you and a skirt and shorts. I do have a set of pants for you, if you want, but they're in the car. If you don't like either of these shirts I have one of my shirt and hoodie for you." He offered.
Sophie gaped at him for a good 5 seconds before she threw her arms around his neck and exclaimed, " I love you, you're the best!" He laughed and wrapped his still full arms around her.
The entire morning was fun filled and packed with water fights and tackles. When they finally packed everything and were on the car ride home, he asked her, " Did you have fun?" And her response was his favourite of all time.
She leaned over and kissed his cheek and whispered " I loved it, thank you" into his ear. He had to fight back the urge to turn his head and kiss her again but he was driving. They blasted Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo songs on the car radio all the way home. " Hey, isn't it Prom in your school too?" She asked as they both stepped into the living room. Keefe nodded and that prompted her to say something else but he cut her off, knowing full well what she was going to ask.
" Take some rest, your day isn't over just yet."
Sophie quirked an eyebrow at him but didn't press for details.
This was going to be fun.
